Lines from the Library
Thanks to donors at Donors Choose, Dike Newell first and second grade students have been building and testing STEAM airplane kits during Library STEAM Club (STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math). Students decorated their wings with crayons and then assembled the planes by putting four elastics on the body and three weights in the front. After the planes were completed, they were tested in the hallway and flight distances were measured. Students then had a chance to reposition their wings and make other tweaks before testing their planes once again. Thank you so much Donors Choose for this fun lesson in engineering and perseverance. Pre-K and kindergarten students will be doing this activity in May along with first and second grade helpers.
