D303 Kick-a-Thon Coin Drop
Every school year our students and staff find multiple ways to "give back" to our community and help others. It's part of being an Anderson Fox! We care about others and we do what we can to help show kindness. One such opportunity is the D303 Kick-a-Thon. Before the North Vs. East Varsity Football Game, our community joins together to help support multiple local organizations that help families battling cancer.
We will be collecting coins at school to add to the total dollars donated by all the St. Charles Schools.
Let the coins start flowing! Your child can bring coins to add to our donation bucket in the front office. Each day we will weigh the bucket on our live Zoom Call Morning Announcements to track our progress. (Paper money helps too) :) Donations will be accepted starting 9/21 through 10/5.
Every child will be able to sign a large banner that will be displayed at the event on Oct. 8th. This fun community-wide event has given over a million dollars to the Living Well Cancer Resource Center, Fox Valley Food for Health, and the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Check your couch cushions, junk drawers, and old coat pockets!
Thanks for modeling generosity and kindness to our students.
Walk (or Bike) To School Day - Oct. 6th
At Anderson we have a few different ways kids can participate in this fun and healthy event.
1. Kids can still ride the bus or get dropped off at school just like a normal day. We will have a short "track" set up for them to walk around our playground area before entering the school. We will have staff supervising and music playing!
2. Kids can walk/bike to school only if there is a safe passage. We do not want kids riding bikes or walking on streets that are not designed for foot traffic. We always encourage parents to walk along with them.

October 6, 2021 - SOS for Parents in the Trenches, Zoom Webinar, 6:30 p.m.
Debbie Reber, NY Times bestselling author
(Recording will be available after the event)
When parents are feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and burned out, it’s hard to show up in a way that best supports their child’s development, especially if/ when our kids are struggling, too. In this practical and actionable talk, Debbie shares ten powerful “tilts,” a.k.a. practical ideas to help parents shift their thinking, responses, and actions in a way that will help them feel more confident and peaceful as they parent their unique children.
October 13, 2021 - Supporting Kids Who Learn Differently: Back-to-School Edition, Zoom Webinar, 6:30 p.m. Debbie Reber, NY Times bestselling author
(Recording to be posted)
School always presents certain challenges for students who learn and think differently (kids with ADHD, dyslexia, giftedness, autism, anxiety, or other neuro-differences). But the COVID-19 pandemic has created even greater obstacles. Debbie shares ideas on how parents can best prioritize and plan in the pandemic-era school landscape. She also offers advice on how to support differently wired children’s cognitive, social, and emotional needs during this atypical time, while also taking care of one’s own emotional health and well-being.
