Principal's Message
Dear Families,
As I visit classrooms and see students engaged in work, I ask them questions about what they are learning. I ask follow up questions and then offer some positive targeted feedback to students whenever possible. Instead of saying, "Thank you for telling me about your book," I will offer something such as, "I like the way you talked about that character in detail. It helped me to really understand their personality." This type of feedback let's them know specifically what we see that works. It points out the good work they're doing and encourages them to keep those things in place.
When you're talking to your student about their day, ask them specific open ended question such as, "What did you read today and what you did you learn in the story?" Tell them about the good things you hear them doing.
We all need a lot of encouragement, and the more we can provide to our students, the better. Thank you.
Best,
Aidan McCann, Principal
