Traffic reminders
We truly appreciate your support in keeping Maple a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, especially during busy drop-off and pick-up times. To help ensure things run smoothly, we kindly ask for your cooperation with the following guidelines:
Using the correct entrances:
- Morning Drop-Off: You can use either the east Activity Entrance or the north Main Entrance—whichever is most convenient for you!
- Afternoon Pick-Up: Please use the north Main Entrance only to pick up your student
Pull all the way forward:
To help keep the line moving and make space for as many cars as possible, we kindly ask that you pull all the way forward in the drop-off and pick-up lines. This small step makes a big difference for everyone!Curbside safety:
For everyone’s safety, please have your student enter and exit the car on the curbside to avoid stepping into traffic.Drive carefully:
If you need to pass other cars in the line, we ask that you do so slowly and cautiously.Avoid alternate parking:
To keep things running smoothly, we kindly request avoiding the Glenbrook North or La Salceda parking lots during drop-off or pick-up times.Follow traffic flow:
Please help us by not moving cones or driving through parking spaces. These measures are in place to ensure everyone's safety.
We know these times of the day can be a little hectic, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. By working together, we can keep Maple safe and ensure our students start and end their day on a positive note. Thank you so much for your help and cooperation!

How your child is learning to self-regulate
This month, we in our RULER program, we are learning about emotional regulation and personal values through the best self and meta-moment.
- Our best self is our personal ideal and desired reputation.
- The meta-moment is a tool to pause during emotional situations and adjust to respond as one’s best self.
For example, during difficult morning routines, we might pause to recognize the feeling of frustration and consider how our best self would respond. The meta-moment aims to shift from automatic, unhelpful reactions to strategic, helpful responses.
AT SCHOOL WE ARE LEARNING
- The meta-moment consists of four steps:
Sense: Notice a change in your body or mind.
Pause: Wait to respond. Breathe to think more clearly.
See your Best Self: Imagine your best self in the situation.
Strategize and Act: Think of a strategy and try it out.
Strategies we can use include walking away, finding an adult, considering the other person's perspective, using positive self-talk, and reframing a situation.
NEXT WEEK
Learn how to explore the Meta Moment with your child.
2025 Maple Volley-Bash!
Show your Mustang Pride on Feb. 7
The Annual Volley-Bash is a fun event that gives your Maple student an opportunity to hang out with friends, eat pizza, and play volleyball. No volleyball experience necessary! Last year, over 150 Maple students participated in this after-school event sponsored by the PTO and the Athletic Department. Dozens of teams entered the tournament and countless fans cheered them on!
Next week, your student will receive an email (via their Maple email) with more information and a sign-up link. PTO Parents will be available during student lunches to help sign-up and form teams of 5-6 players on Monday, January 13 and a couple days during the following week.
Keep in mind, once your student chooses to participate (as a player or a fan), you will get an email – asking you to consent to their participation as well as turn in the $20 fee (fee covers pizza, beverages, and a Maple giveaway).
If you have any questions, please contact Michelle King (mhackerking@gmail.com), Amanda Neidhardt (amandadae@gmail.com) or Jen Wyton (jwyton@wyware.com).
