Holiday Concert - December 10
PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR A LETTER SENT TO OUR FAMILIES ABOUT THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY CONCERT.
Our winter concert is next Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Port Chester Middle School. The third-grade concert will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the fourth and fifth-grade concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. It is expected that all third, fourth, and fifth-grade students attend the concert.
Just a reminder, the evening program is divided into 2 concerts. Everyone in grades K-2 are welcome to attend. Grade 3 arrives at 5 for a 5:30 concert and Grades 4 and 5 arrive at 6:30 for a 7pm concert. The grade 3 concert should be about 15-20 minutes long. Grades 4 and 5's evening concert will probably run about an hour or so with all of the transitions between band, chorus and orchestra. Upon their arrival, students will report to the cafeteria.
Please note: Parents must attend the concert with their children. Children are not allowed to be dropped off and picked up afterward.
Concert attire is as follows:
Girls: Plain White top, Black Dressy Bottom, Black Shoes. Girls can wear pants, leggings, a skirt, or a black dress with a white sweater on top. If wearing leggings, girls should wear a tunic-length shirt. Black jeans that don’t look like jeans are also acceptable
Boys: Plain White Dress Shirt, Black Dress Pants, black dress shoes, black socks. Boys can wear a white dress shirt with a collar, a white golf shirt, and black chino pants. Black jeans that don’t look like jeans are also acceptable. Please, no sweatpants or sweatshirts!!
WE ASK THE FAMILIES STAY FOR THE ENTIRE CONCERT AND NOT WALK OUT ONCE THEIR CHILD HAS PERFORMED. THIS IS DISRUPTIVE AND NOT KIND TO THE OTHER PERFORMERS.

COLD WEATHER AND RECESS
As the weather is turning colder, I want to remind families that it is so important to send children to school with proper clothing for the colder weather. As a general rule of thumb, when the "real feel" is at or above 28-30 degrees, we will likely be going outside. I truly believe that students need fresh air, sun on their faces, and the ability to burn off their energy outside, but in order to do this, we need families to ensure that they are prepared for the cold.
The decision about outdoor recess is, of course, dependent on snow, ice, and wind, so there may be other factors that impact my decision making regarding recess, but it is truly important that students come to school prepared for the cold weather with winter jackets, hats, gloves, scarves every day. I have been communicating this message to our students at school, but wanted you to be informed so you can support it at home. Thank you for your help in ensuring that our students are safe during the recess on cold days.
IF ANY CHILD NEEDS A WINTER COAT, HAT OR GLOVES, THE SCHOOL WILL HAPPILY WORK TO PROVIDE THESE ITEMS TO OUR STUDENTS. PLEASE SEND A MESSAGE TO THE CHILD'S TEACHER WHO WILL NOTIFY ADMINISTRATION.
Also, please be reminded that we have a Lost and Found bin in front of the school that is overflowing with jackets and other clothes, so please take a look if your child is missing something!
