Still a marathon, keep it up!
Hi folks, I'll keep this short up top: keep up the good work. There is so much going on and sometimes time feels like it disappears before you've really tracked it. Stay strong, and support each other. I'll keep the door procedures up for one more week, our staff from both schools are posting at the door to train on procedures for the short-term. Thank you!
Door buzzer - updated procedures
As stated previously, our campus has received a new door buzzer access system. Many schools in our district already utilize this device for entry into their respective campuses, and we now also have this device. The buzzer is located at the purple doors leading to the exterior hallway bookstore (see photo below), and will be the way for all visitors to enter the campus and all students arriving late to school. Here are procedural details:
- All visitors to the RUHS campus will have to present their ID multiple times during school hours. We will continue to require an ID at the front gate upon arrival, and then a further ID check at the camera of the buzzer must be provided before you are buzzed into campus. Finally, you will be prompted to present the ID once more once you arrive in the attendance office. NOTE: students also running late and who need to check into the attendance office are also required to present their school ID or present their StudentVUE ID before being allowed to buzz in. Other access points to circumvent the office will be closed. All students arriving after school has begun will need to be buzzed through the purple doors.
- The purple doors will no longer be a throughway for students to use during passing periods. All students coming from the T building must go through the T building hallways to re-enter campus. They will not be buzzed through the purple doors when we return from Spring Break. We are still waiting for the gates to installed on the fence around the T building, but we want to begin training on the procedures now so we can develop good habits.
- Students needing to access the UHS CCCC and the orchestra and piano classes will now enter and exit through the auditorium lobby. The auditorium has been released back to us for use, and will be used as the permanent hallway for the UHS CCCC, and the temporary hallway for the orchestra and piano classes. The lobby is monitored by a security camera, and campus monitors will also be patrolling regularly. The exterior, white door to the CCCC will be locked moving forward. Students will be re-directed to report to the attendance office for a check in and ID verification if they exit through the former front door of the CCCC during business hours, and for now may also be re-directed to go all the way around to the T building to access campus. Please use the auditorium lobby.
- All of these procedures are put in place with the safety and security of all on our campus as the primary concern. We know some of these procedures are inconvenient, but I personally will advocate for additional security rather than too little if it protects our community. There are some options we are not considering, but this is congruent with what other schools offer for their campus security and is what is required at this time.

Assessment calendar
The UHS Assessment Calendar is a tool to assist teachers in their planning and helps parents support their students as they plan and advocate for themselves. You can filter by grade and by subject. Keep in mind that although students can view this calendar, they have individualized calendars on Canvas.
Note however, that although there are grade specific subjects, not all students are enrolled in all of those courses. For example, a tenth-grade student is enrolled in either AP World History or AP European History. There are also multi-part finals, so those tests do not necessarily take up the entire class period. Teachers have different grading deadlines depending by grade. You can view the calendar here.

The 2023-2024 RUHS Sport Pass is available for purchase in the Finance Office for only $30.00 per person. This is a great savings to all parents or students who want to attend games. For example, anyone that attends all 9 home basketball games will save $6.00 per pass. The pass is good for any regular season athletic events on the RUHS campus for the entire school year. However, the passes are not good for post-season playoffs.
Most important is that this helps RUHS athletics directly. All proceeds from the $30.00 pass stays at RUHS in the Athletic Department. When purchasing tickets individually, the money is split with the other TUSD high schools. Please purchase your 2023-2024 RUHS Sports Pass today and save at the ticket gate. For questions contact the finance office today.
Please note: RUHS is a clear bag-only campus. Please only bring clear bags when attending home games at RUHS athletic events. Below are links for the roster of fall athletics. Click on any of the links to go to their respective AIA website for their game schedule, record, etc.

KEYS program!
The KEYS Research Internship Program at the University of Arizona is highly lauded and sought-after opportunity for high school students across the city. KEYS interns will contribute to interdisciplinary bioscience research using biotechnology and data analysis techniques while contributing to the development of new scientific knowledge. Interns will also develop science literacy skills and learn how to communicate their research to a varied audience.
The internship begins in the summer but their work begins now! Interns will have weekly assignments preparing them for the research they will participate in with their labs. Interns will be paired with their assigned lab based on their scientific interests and skills determined through their application and interview with KEYS staff.
Congratulations to the following UHS students accepted to KEYS this summer:
Pasque Nelson
Mallory O'Brien
Mateo Pimienta
Crisanna (CJ) Terrell
