High Ability Screening
Goshen Community Schools will begin the 2021-2022 screening process for high ability programming very soon. If you have a child in 7th grade and would like him/her to be screened for high ability identification, please contact one of our school counselors to be put on the list for further screening and assessments.
GJH school counselors are:
Mrs. Koop Liechty(7th grade) jliechty@goshenschools.org
Mrs. Christofferson (8th grade) kchristoffersen@goshenschools.org
Mrs.Desmarais-Morse jandm@goshenschools.org
All parent requests need to be made before Friday, November 12th, 2021. By requesting screening, parents/guardians give approval for students to take all screeners necessary for identification.
Staff Spotlight: Miss Shepherd
I am a product of Goshen Community Schools first and foremost. After graduating from GHS, I went to IU South Bend for my teaching degree. I've been teaching at the Goshen Jr. High for 5 years. I just recently transitioned into a new TOSA position where I get to assist both of our principals.
I love to travel and go to Chicago Cubs games and Notre Dame events. I also love to watch my New York Jets (even though it's tough). I love being social and meeting new people. Fall is my favorite season because of football, and my fantasy football team is doing GREAT this season.
My favorite thing about Goshen Jr. High is the staff. Our students are so lucky to be around so many adults that care so much about them not only educationally but as a whole student.
Theatre Performances
Performances for Advanced Theatre and Competition Theatre classes are Friday night, Nov 5th at 7pm. Tickets are $3 at the door.

Penny War!
The National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring a Penny War for The Window. The Window supports the homeless and the shut-ins of Goshen. The students would like to raise $4000.00. The Penny Wars will be a competition between each of our 8 teams. This fundraiser will run between November 8 and November 23. The students are very excited to give back to our community!
Mums needed for Builders Club!
If you have mums that you do not plan on planting in your garden, would you consider dropping them off at the school? Builders club would like to use them to decorate the school grounds. They are easy to grow and car for.
Parents can put mum donations in a garbage bag and bring them to the GJH Main Office.
Thank you!

Redhawk Ready!
What is going well?
- We have more students participating in extra-curriculuar activities (athletics, clubs, musical). It's never too late to get involved! Ask your school counselor or stop in the office for more information.
- Tardy numbers are down!
- Our fundraiser was a success, raising money that will support student activities!
- We have many 8th grade students earning high school credits
Important Reminders:
- All students should wear their ID cards at all times. If students forget, they should get a sticker ID from their first teacher of the day. Wearing your ID is a safety issue, and it also makes lunchtime go much more smoothly!
- Cell phones may be brought to school but should remain locked in lockers during the school day. Phones brought to class will be turned in to the office, where they'll be locked up until a parent can pick them up.
- Hoods and hats are not allowed in school. If you are wearing a hoodie sweatshirt, the hood should stay down.
- Make sure you are bringing your computer to school fully charged each day! Bring your charger with you also.
Please take a moment to review these expectations with your child. Also quiz them to see if they can name all four Redhawk Ready Values!
