MARCH 20, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Hello Northpoint Families!
Welcome to the final months of the school year! I hope you and your family had a wonderful, relaxing spring break. We are looking forward to the final trimester, and as always, it will be packed with a lot of events and activities.
Spring can often be a hard time to focus with a lot of possible distractions. As you have heard me say many times in the newsletter, we want to have a strong partnership with families to ensure students are getting the support they need to be successful. Here are a few things we want to continue to partner on to make sure the end of the year is a success:
Student attendance - Ensuring students are attending school on a regular basis really helps our staff support students academically and socially/emotionally. This includes making sure students are on time to school, so they can join their class in morning meeting and get their day started on the right foot!
Communication - please let us know when absences occur or if there is a change in end of day transportation. The more time you can provide the office with these changes, the better we can ensure those changes are communicated with everyone that needs to know to have a smooth end to the school day.
Daily conversations - Please talk with your child(ren) each night about what they are learning in school and how you can support them at home. If there are any concerns raised, do not hesitate to reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher so that we can partner with you to support them.
Weather appropriate clothing - Please keep an eye on the forecast and check each morning to make sure students are wearing appropriate clothing to go outside for recess.
Report cards for the second trimester will be sent home with students March 25. As always, these reports are a snapshot in time and reflect learning at that point. They are just one way we share student progress. Based on feedback, we made some modifications to the format to make it easier to see at a glance, on the first page, where your child is at - with the option to go deeper on each competency and competency criteria.
Thanks in advance for your partnership to ensure the end of the year is as successful as possible.

Northpoint Principal
Upcoming Event: Positive Communication and Working Through Difficult Topics, April 10
If you haven't signed up already, make sure to RSVP for the Positive Communication and Working Through Difficult Topics event on Wednesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. in the Den at Westwood Intermediate and Middle School. Dealing with adversity is a normal part of life. In this session, learn skills and strategies around positively communicating with your child and working through difficult situations.
Access to curriculum and student learning experiences
Students use Seesaw (grades K-2) and Schoology (grades 3-12) for their learning. As we start a new trimester, parents/guardians are encouraged to access these platforms and follow along with what their children are learning in school. Once a parent or guardian logs on, if you're not sure what you're looking at or where to find something, ask your student to give you a tour.
Check out these instructions for logging on to our digital learning systems. You can find these instructions along with parent password guidance, and so many more tips and video tutorials about our technology tools on the Technology Tools, Resources and Log Ins page of our website under the "Parent" menu. All our Spring Lake Park Schools webpages also can be translated into multiple languages.

Message from the director: To follow up last year's wildly successful high school spring musical, "Matilda," we decided to push our costume and set design departments to their limits by doing a huge production - Disney's "Beauty and the Beast!" This will be a challenging play to pull off, but the joy of our incredible production team is their willingness to do whatever it takes to make sure that our students create magical productions for our audiences. We're looking forward to seeing a ton of little Belles in the audience (and hopefully some Beasts as well)!
Synopsis: The classic story tells of Belle, a woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, a prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. In a race against time, the Beast must learn how to open his heart to true love before he and his entire castle staff are doomed!
