Monthly Communication

Welcome to the monthly Continuous Improvement and State & Federal Programs communication. The purpose is to contextualize Continuous Improvement into our daily work, to efficiently complete all State and Federal Program tasks, and to promote moving these tasks past simple compliance.

This communication is sent to administrators in Congressional District 2, but is applicable statewide. If this was forwarded to you, you are welcome to subscribe.

The Michigan Association of State and Federal Program Specialists (MASFPS) have released our 2022/23 professional learning offerings. This is a great lineup and there is something for everyone. Don't forget to include this important professional learning in your consolidated application.

2022/2023 Consolidated App

Not too much of an update today. As of this writing, initial allocations are not yet posted to the MDE allocations page and there is no news on when the consolidated application will open. The Con App for 2022/23 will be similar to what was completed for 21/22 (but hopefully on more normal timelines):

• NexSys: Accepting funds, Title I School Selection, Equitable Services, Required Reservations
• MEGS+: Budgets

It is anticipated that initial allocations will be posted in May and that NexSys and MEGS+ will open so we can start working on our applications. Expect a June 30 submission deadline so that you are able to get a July 1 obligation date for your federal funds.

Most administrators are busy with state testing, but keep the following links close at hand over the next few months as you're working on MICIP plans, updating your Title IA plans, and completing end-of-year reporting for 98b/104a.

SOME UPDATED DATES: The annual Spring Workshop is a time for MDE to communicate directly with districts about changes in state and federal programs accountability and the consolidated application. MDE will offer a mix of virtual and face to face workshops this year in May. A statewide list of dates, times, and locations has not yet been published. In the meantime, Region 2 has the following face to face workshops set up. Anyone is able to join any location:

• May 10th 9-11:30 at Calhoun ISD (Same date as previously communicated)

• May 13th 9-11:30 at Muskegon Area ISD (Same date as previously communicated)

• May 23rd 9 - 11:30 at Berrien RESA (Changed Date)

• June 1st 9 - 11:30 at Kent ISD (Changed Date)
