.
Tēnā koutou katoa, Ko te mihi nui, ko te mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa i tēnei wā.
Te Whakataukī o te wā:
"He aha te mea nui o te ao? Māku e kī atu, he tangata, he tangata, he tangata."
This whakataukī, "What is the most important thing in the world? I will tell you, it is people, it is people, it is people," is a reminder of the importance of the connections we build with one another, especially as we start a new school year. It emphasises that the most valuable asset in our kura is the people – tamariki, whānau, and kaiako.
As we work towards our 2025 Annual Plan, focusing on matauranga (knowledge), taiao (environment), and Te Reo (language), we know that the key to success lies in the involvement and support of whānau.
We encourage you to stay engaged in your child's learning journey by:
Ensuring we have your updated contact details.
Reading your child’s report with them.
Attending parent interviews, and answering the phone when our kaiako call.
Check ClassDojo, FB and this newsletter to keep up to date with what is going on in the Kura
These actions are essential in creating strong, supportive relationships between home and school, ensuring your tamaiti thrives.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to working alongside you throughout the 2025 year.
Ngā mihi nui,
Erin Te Pou

Building project
After a long wait, the first step in getting new classrooms is finally happening! The first of the new classrooms are being built in Hamilton right now and will be brought to school in June.
This week, the basketball court at the back of the school is being prepared for the foundations of temporary classrooms. These classrooms will be used while the new ones are built.
The first classes to move are Whaea Cilla and Whaea Te Amiona. Their temporary classroom will be in the school hall. In June, Whaea Takirimu, Whaea Edna, and Matua Vijay’s classes will shift to the temporary classrooms.
We know there will be some disruptions, but we are working closely with the Ministry of Education to make sure the project runs smoothly. We’ll keep you updated and share photos of the progress. We’re excited for the beautiful new classrooms that will soon be ready for our tamariki.

Whanau interviews.
The Importance of Attending Your Child’s Parent Interview.
The parent-teacher interview is an important part of your child's learning journey. This meeting allows you to assess your child’s progress, communicate with their teachers, and develop a plan to support their success.
Firstly, attending the interview shows your support for your child's education. They will see that you value their learning, which can increase their motivation and engagement in school.
Secondly, this is a great opportunity to hear from teachers about your child’s development and to share your own insights. You can discuss any challenges they may be facing and explore ways to support them both at home and at school.
Lastly, strong collaboration between parents and teachers is key to strengthening a child’s education. By working together, you can create a clear pathway for your child to reach their full potential.
So, don’t forget to attend the parent-teacher interview! It is a crucial step in supporting your child’s success.
All cellphones will no longer be permitted at Kura.
Digital Technology and Online Safety
Te Kura o Te Pāroa is committed to providing a digital and online environment that is physically and emotionally safe, inclusive, and free from racism, discrimination, and bullying (Education and Training Act 2020, National Education and Learning Priorities (NELP), and Health and Safety at Work Act 2015). We recognize the vital role of digital technology in learning and how it impacts student wellbeing, so we take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure its safe and responsible use. Our strategies aim to prevent digital incidents and maintain student wellbeing and safety both at and outside the school.
Our digital technology policies and procedures apply to every member of the school community using digital technology, including staff, students, parents/caregivers, volunteers, contractors, visitors, and the board. They apply to digital technology owned by the school or owned privately and used at school or any other location for a school-based activity. They also include off-site access to the school network if applicable.
Our approach to digital technology aims to reduce barriers to education for all students (NELP: Objective 2). Te Kura o Te Pāroa supports students to access the resources needed to participate in online learning. We recognize that although a student may have a device, their internet access may be limited.
Safe and responsible use of digital technology
In keeping with our whole-school approach to student wellbeing, Te Kura o Te Pāroa promotes safe and responsible use of digital technology as a shared responsibility.
At Te Kura o Te Pāroa, we maintain a safe and responsible digital environment by:
setting and sharing clear requirements and expectations about acceptable and unacceptable digital use.
ensuring that members of the school community commit to these guidelines by signing the appropriate use agreement outlining requirements and expectations.
reviewing these digital technology use agreements annually educating students about the digital world.
including understanding privacy and copyright laws, staying safe online, and protecting digital devices encouraging our students to be confident, capable, and competent in their use of digital technology by supporting them
We also create a safe digital and online environment through these supporting policies:

● For tamariki with chronic absences, please note that the kura can engage with external agencies to help support being at kura more regularly.
● Please talk to your classroom teacher or LSC if you need support getting tamariki to school.
Linewize program.
We now have a new program in the school that monitors students' online behaviour and activity. Please remind your tamaiti that learning experiences set up by the kaiako are there for the purpose of learning. If misuse of the schools devices or internet activity is reported their devices will be taken from them.
Students are not allowed to bring phones to school. If a phone is required for the student to communicate with their whānau the phone is to be left at the school office.
Phones are not allowed to be used during play breaks, in the classroom, at Kapa Haka practice, or sporting excursions.
If kaiako and staff see a phone they will be confiscated.
Therefore, whānau I need your help:
-Please check that your child hasn’t brought their phone to kura.
-Please check their social media platforms.
-Please monitor the sites they are going on at home.
Family link is a free app that has been used by a member of staff at our kura. She highly recommends the use of this app for her tamariki.
Even though most incidents of misconduct online occur outside of school hours and off school premises, the repercussions are still felt within the school community.
By keeping an eye on how your child behaves online, you can help prevent these negative behaviours from occurring.
Conveyance Forms
This is a reminder to all our whanau who live outside our area and are not within our bus routes to complete and return the Conveyance Forms to the kura by the end of week 9 to be processed. Forms have been given to the eldest of each whanau to take home. If you did not receive please contact the office to have another sent home.
Bus Rules
We are currently experiencing some behaviour issues on a couple of our school buses, particularly the Town North and Poroporo runs. If your tamaiti or mokopuna travel on these buses, we kindly ask that you remind them of our bus rules and expectations.
All students have been reminded that using the school bus is a privilege, not a right. If students are unable to meet our behaviour expectations, alternative transport arrangements will need to be made by whānau.
Ngā mihi nui for your continued support.
