The Weekly Update #4

The three Astronomy classes at DFHS have just spent several days examining how the ring of Jupiter (that’s right Jupiter has a ring) is compared to the rings of Saturn. They performed several different lab/demos that showed them how the vortex storm of Jupiter forms along with how and why Jupiter’s ring is not visible compared to Saturn’s rings. On Sunday afternoon November 3rd, the Dutch Fork High School Beta Club students had a moving visit to Generations Assisted Living. Two talented students played the piano beautifully, others read stories, and they served delicious cupcakes to bring smiles to the residents’ faces. They also brought a thoughtful basket full of crossword puzzles, reading activities, and little items to brighten their rooms. The highlight of the day was hearing the residents share life stories and give heartfelt advice to our students. It was an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, wisdom, and joy! So proud of these compassionate young people for making a difference.

This month we are displaying DFHS art at the district office. We have two display cases highlighting the amazing talent we have in our 3-D classes. Also, several 3-D2 students have completed their clay portraits and are waiting for them to dry to place them in the kiln.

Dr. Fields' Marine Science Honors class brought tiny marine microbes to macro size, creating a marine microbe museum. While small, these microbes are important for our ocean ecosystems. Enjoy their creativity!
