The Mini Maverick Messenger is our monthly PTA newsletter for our wonderful Ogle families filled with upcoming events, fundraisers, photos, volunteer opportunities, & other information from our PTA meetings. Ready for an unforgettable new school year at Ogle Elementary?! Your PTA board has been working closely with Mr. McCarty to bring fun events, spirit nights, fundraisers, and some new surprises to make this a memorable year for EVERYONE (students, families, and Ogle staff)! Remember to take pictures throughout the year and post photos with the hashtag #OgleOhana!

This Thursday, you'll find a flyer and a ticket for our upcoming Spirit Week in your child's folder. Please fill out the ticket and give it to Handel's when you visit. The class with the most visits to Handel's during Spirit Week will get a FREE ICE CREAM PARTY!!!

Mr. McCarty will be making a special appearance on Monday, Sept. 16th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. to kick off Spirit Week!

The funds raised from this event will go directly towards PTA programs (like class parties, events (Fall Festival, Multicultural Night, and Glow Dance), a gaga ball pit, etc.).

Color Run Kickoff: **Mark your calendars to help support this spectacular and exciting event for the kids! More information to come at Celebrate Ogle on Friday, September 27th!**

Thanks to the incredible support and contributions of our incredible members, generous donors, and dedicated volunteers, our PTA had an engaging August to welcome new and returning students and staff back to school. Here’s a snapshot of what we have accomplished within the past month:

• Bought and installed new soccer goals! Thank you Ogle community for your incredible support and commitment last school year!
  
• Provided popsicles for Popsicles with Principals to encourage students to come and meet Mr. McCarthy and Mrs. Brown
  
• Ordered brand new grade level shirts for every student to foster school spirit at Celebrate Ogle, field trips, and other school sponsored activities
  

• Warmly welcomed new staff to our Ogle community with coffee and muffins
  
• Stocked the teacher's lounge with snacks, drinks, and classroom supplies generously donated by Ogle families

• Hosted the Tears and Cheers reception for Kinder and Pre-K parents to connect with each other and our Ogle community
  
• Organized the Watch D.O.G.S. Fall Pizza Kick Off to celebrate the launch of the Watch D.O.G.S program for the school year
  

Our PTA appreciates every volunteer who assists our community, and as a small thank you we will be announcing a volunteer each month who will be awarded with a special thank you. Congratulations to Don Bailey, Karan Panwar, and Brent Simon, our volunteers of the Month! Many students with a smile on their face said that the Watch D.O.G.S.' visit their classroom was the best part of their day! Their efforts to promote a supportive learning environment and to be positive role models have not gone unnoticed by the kids. We’re grateful for your leadership, commitment, and sunshine you brought to our students and staff. Thank you for everything you do!

Frisco ISD Board Policy requires that each volunteer undergo a background check before working with students. You will be prompted to complete the background check during your Voly account creation. Keep an eye on your inbox for your background check approval (the process can take up to 3-5 business days.) If you signed up previously, please note that a new background check must be completed each school year as required by Frisco ISD!

Click on the volunteer opportunities below to see them in Voly (our volunteer management system,) along with date/times needed. You must be logged into Voly to sign up for these volunteer opportunities.

1. Work Room Volunteers: Supporting our teachers by helping with lamination, cutting, sorting, stapling, etc. *All materials provided and younger siblings are welcome to join*

2. Watch D.O.G.S. (any male figure (or female!)): Spend the day on campus volunteering with your student & helping in your child's classroom

3. Mystery Readers: Calling all Kinder parents! Sign up to be a mystery reader for your kiddo's classroom!

4. Library Volunteers: Assist Ms. Keil by checking books, labeling, organizing, and restocking shelves.
5. Picture Day (Tues., 9/24): Help keep picture day moving by getting classes to the photographers, make sure students look picture ready, and direct traffic flow so students keep moving forward and stay with their class

6. Hearing and Vision Screening (Wed., 9/18): Assist Nurse Summer with walking students between classrooms and nurses office. Hearing and Vision screenings will be held for all Kinder and 1st graders, as well as new 2nd & 4th graders, or any student needing a new screening.
