Papillion La Vista Travels: Puerto Rico/Spain
Students in the Papillion La Vista Community School District are invited to join the Titans Abroad team on our international excursions. We are hosting a trip to Puerto Rico in June 2025 and to Spain in June 2026. If you are interested check out the information below. You can contact Dinah Claus at dinah.claus@plcschools.org for more information.
Puerto Rico is amazing! It is a beautiful island that is rich in history, culture, and adventure! We will
get to visit and learn about the forts and neat historical buildings in Old San Juan (and shop in
the super cute shops!) as well as learn about the native Taino people while in the city of Ponce. This
trip includes lots of adventure as we will zipline through El Yunque Rainforest, snorkel on a smaller
island of the coast of PR, and kayak through the bioluminescent bay at night . . . a true adventure!
This trip is only 6 days, making this a more affordable excursion, but still jam packed with
wonderful things to do and see!
Spain is a beautiful and awe-inspiring country on the Iberian Peninsula in Europe. We will learn about the history and culture of Spain and get to visit some amazing places. This trip starts in Barcelona, a favorite of most travelers! Here we visit the famous La Sagrada Familia, shop the streets in Las Ramblas, enjoy tapas and other fabulous treats, as well as get to see some other neat historical places. We then venture north and get to see the famous city of Pamplona (known for the running of the bulls), the ancient Altamira Caves, a national park, and more. We added a tour extension to this trip (I figured we are already there!) and will get to see the also famous Camino de Santiago and Compostela then fly out of Portugal. This is a 12- day excursion . . .a little longer so may seem pricier because of this!
MKMEA Honor Choir Audition Opportunity
Singers who will be in grades 5-7 next year have a great opportunity to be part of a regional honor choir. The Midwest Kodaly Music Education Association is having their multi-state conference in Omaha from October 18-20.
The MKMEA Honor Choir is a special opportunity to participate in a singing ensemble with other developing musicians. There is a $140 registration fee for students who are accepted. This fee, as well as any travel expenses will be the responsibility of the singer’s family. Singers recommended should have the musical ability, exemplary behavior and rehearsal focus necessary to positively represent their school in the 2024 MKMEA Children’s Honor Choir.
For more information please contact Alaina Wilson at alaina.wilson@plcschools.org. If your student is interested in participation, please fill out this form by May 10.
