Message from Mr. Z
Drop off reminders
Dear Parent Drop-Off Families,
Please do not park and walk your student to the front of the building, the drop-off point is at the side of the building. Also please be mindful of how you are exiting the school premises within your vehicle. You may ONLY turn left out of the exit furthest from Diley road. This helps keep the flow of parents exiting our parking lot smooth, which allows for parents in the drop-off line to actually pull into our lot. This really does not take any more time and helps the process so much! Thank you all for your cooperation.
Mr. Z
How can you help?
1. Have your student, with masks on, ready to go when you pull up to the sidewalk (very important).
2. Follow the protocols (pull all the way up before dropping off to allow 4-5 cars to drop off their student(s) at a time, have your child ready to exit, stay in your vehicle).
3. Be ready for a wait, arriving early only creates a long line that may disrupt the flow of traffic on Long or Diley and compromise the safety of all drivers and students.
4. Please DO NOT cut other vehicles off in line. We acknowledge that the line can be lengthy.

Below are directions for accessing your child’s achievement records in IC. The Achievement Record will be a PDF version which can be downloaded and printed.
How to find your student's Achievement Record in Infinite Campus
Paper copies of achievement Records will not be sent home unless internet access is not available. If this is the case please let your teacher or the principal know as soon as possible.
Please feel free to reach out to your teacher with questions and concerns.
Thank You!
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign. Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. At the elementary level we are focusing on making positive and healthy choices. You can go to https://www.redribbon.org/ to learn more.

Red Ribbon Week Costume Parade
On Monday, October 31st, we will have a costume parade as part of our final day of Red Ribbon Week. Students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes as we parade around the school to “Say Boo! to drugs and bad choices”.
Parents are invited to come for the parade which will be held outdoors at 9:45 AM and then for afternoon Kindergarten students only at 1:30PM.
Parents do not need to sign in at the front office, but instead, are invited to stand around the building lining the sidewalk of the school. Please do not stand on the sidewalk, as that is where the students will be walking during the. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will still have the parade but it will be held inside only...if we are able, If this is the case, parents will not be able to watch live, but we will record the parade and send it out for families to view.

Stripes, GRRR, Bucks??? What is all this?
Pickerington Elementary is excited to announce a new Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) initiative that has started this school year. Our goal is to encourage students to show Grit, and be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready while here at school. When our students demonstrate GRRR characteristics, they will have the opportunity to earn:
A Golden Stripe; once a month, one student per class will be nominated by their teacher.
A Pennant Stripe; once a week, three to five students per class will be nominated by their teacher.
GRRR Bucks; throughout the day, all students will be able to earn and then later spend at the Stripes Store.
Once a month students will have the opportunity to spend GRRR bucks at our Stripes Store. The store will include prizes such as fidgets, pop-its, squishy balls, erasers, slap bracelets, board games, and coupons (think Rule 3 prizes!). Students have also requested food items such as Takis, Cheetos, little bags of cookies, fruit snacks, and candy to be available at our store. If there are items that you would prefer your student not “purchase,” please email your respective homeroom teacher.
If you would like to donate to the Stripes Store, feel free to have your student bring items to the office or click here for Pickerington Elementary’s Amazon Wishlist.

Thanksgiving Meal Assistance Available
Local community members are interested in donating Thanksgiving meals to other Pickerington families. This is a confidential donation, neither the names of donors or recipients will be shared. Due to the amount of food in the box, an adult will need to be available to come and pick it up from Pickerington Elementary on Monday November 22nd or Tuesday November 23rd. The pick up time is to be determined and will be communicated closer to that date.
If you are interested in receiving a Turkey dinner, please contact me at Phone:(614)548-1431 or email kendra_stewart@plsd.us by November 12th.
Please let me know how many family members live in your house so we can make sure the appropriate amount of food is boxed.
Holiday Assistance
Dear Families,
Pickerington Schools are once again teaming up with the Violet Township Fire Department to help provide some holiday assistance for families in need during this holiday season.
In need of assistance?
Request an online form for holiday assistance by contacting me at kendra_stewart@plsd.us or 614-548-1431. The request link will then be provided to you, only one per household please. This form is handled in a confidential manner with more details from your school counselor. Please remember that we will only be able to supplement your holiday. The online form must be completed by Monday, November 23rd.
Wanting to donate?
There are several ways to donate this year:
The traditional big red boxes throughout the community and in the schools accepting donations of new toys/gifts.
Gift cards are also appreciated.
Cash donations through Paypal.
Another way of donating this year is through Amazon and Target. If you would prefer to donate in this way, click on the links below. Be sure to ship to Violet Township Fire Department Toy Drive (address will appear as an option).
H.O.P.E Food Bags
Violet Baptist Church offers a Weekend Food Program. This program was created to help those families in need of meals for their children over the weekend. This is offered to our students for FREE. Each student in the house is eligible. Students will take their bags home on either Monday or Thursday, depending on which hybrid day they are here. If your student is VLA and would like to participate, you will pick up the bag(s) from the school on Thursday or Friday. Please reach out to Kendra Stewart, School Counselor by phone at 614-548-1431 or email at kendra_stewart@plsd.us in order to sign up.
NEWS FROM THE NURSE
STAY HOME WHEN FEELING ILL AND/OR EXHIBITING SYMPTOMS
We are seeing an increasing number of students coming to school with symptoms such as a cough, headache, sore throat, cold symptoms, ear ache, fever, stomach issues, etc. It is VITAL that you keep your child home if he/she is feeling ill or exhibiting symptoms of an illness to help us prevent the spread of ALL illnesses in our classrooms. We need everyone's help to keep our students healthy.
Also, just a reminder that you should not send medications to school with your child. Students are not permitted to carry over the counter or prescription medications in their book bag. If your child needs medication during the school day please complete the corresponding form and bring the medication to the school. Thank you for your cooperation.

COVID-19 HOME TEST KITS
Please see the following guidance for at home Covid-19 test kits:
BinaxNow Antigen Card or Ag Card (these tests are given out by schools, libraries, churches, other places too)
Require an app to be downloaded and to be done in conjunction with a telehealth visit.
When done properly with the telehealth visit, this can be accepted as a positive test at school. Or if negative, when tested between days 5 and 7, can be accepted to end quarantine on day 8.
These results should come up in the app, and a screenshot can be sent to the School Nurse.
If the test is not completed with telehealth (we see this is if someone doesn’t download the app, just tests themselves) we cannot accept these results (positive or negative) as they were not proctored in the manner in which they were intended/approved.
Self Tests (BinaxNow Self Test, Ellume or some other brands)
Available over the counter at places like CVS or Walgreens where there is no app to be downloaded or telehealth visit component
Cannot be accepted as a negative for someone who is trying to end their quarantine after day 7. The packing inserts indicate that they are not designed for that type of situation where a proof of negative is required
If they were to test positive using one of these tests, please contact your Health Care Provider.
