COMMUNITY UPDATE
Hello North Rockland Families,
As we return to school this week following our Mid-Winter Recess, we also wind down Black History Month, a district-wide celebration of the achievements and contributions of Black Americans. Haverstraw Elementary School on Wednesday hosted an inspiring BHM assembly with live music, dance and spoken word performances from our students.
We also have exciting news from North Rockland High School Athletics. Our Boys and Girls Track and Field teams are Section 1 Champions - making history for the third consecutive year as Triple Crown champs, winning the league, county and section titles! Congratulations to our talented student-athletes for their hard work and dedication in securing this remarkable achievement once again. This Saturday, our Varsity Cheer team will compete in the Section 1 Championship. Let’s turn the tables and cheer for our bases, flyers and spotters as they reach for victory!
Tonight, our Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball teams will battle on the hardwood against Suffern. Our boys are competing at home and our girls are competing away in the Section 1 quarter-finals. Best of luck to both teams as they continue their playoff journey!
This week, WPIX-TV news reporter Monica Morales recognized Maybie, our Canine Companion therapy dog at Fieldstone Middle School as Community Champion! We're thrilled to see Maybie recognized for her amazing work with our students. To learn more about Maybie and the Canine Companions organization, join us for a special event on March 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at FMS.
Looking ahead, Spring Athletics are right around the corner. North Rockland High School’s Spring Sports season begins on March 17. Fieldstone Middle School’s Spring Sports season will begin on March 24. It’s not too late to sign up to be a part of our Red Raider tradition of excellence.
Next week promises even more excitement at North Rockland. We’re looking forward to the Student Faculty Basketball Game, the NRHS Spring Musical and academic celebrations recognizing our NRHS Class of 2025 for their achievements as the top 5%.

2025-26 School Calendar
Each year, creating the school calendar involves a thoughtful process that takes several important factors into consideration to ensure the academic year runs smoothly. We begin by working backward from the New York State (NYS) mandated last day of school to establish our end date. Additionally, we account for required holidays, ensuring they are appropriately included in the schedule.
To prepare for unexpected weather events, we build in three snow days, based on feedback from our school community. If we exceed this number, we will transition to a remote learning model to ensure the school year remains on track. Per NYS requirements, we must maintain 180 days of student attendance.
Further, we consider contractual obligations, as well as discussions with neighboring districts to align our schedules where possible. Above all, we strive to design a calendar that best serves the needs of our students, families and staff.
The 2025-26 school calendar has been approved by our Board of Education and is linked below for your reference.
