May 25, 2023
Hello Barrington Families;
Happy long weekend! I hope you all enjoy this holiday weekend and the beautiful weather that is expected. We would like to take a moment to acknowledge those individuals who have passed in service to our country. We are grateful for their dedication, support, and service.
Tomorrow, May 26th, the District will be engaging in a Professional Development Day. Our Administrative Assistants are also participating in training so our School Offices will be closed from 9:45am - 1:45pm while these professionals are at the District Office.
Reminder: At the Tuesday, April 18th School Board meeting the Barrington School Board determined the Last Day of School for Kindergarten - 8th grade students to be Friday, June 23, 2023. PreSchool students will have their last day of school on Thursday, June 22nd. The 8th Grade Celebration will also be on Thursday, June 22nd. Details for this event will come directly from the Middle School. The last day of school will run on an early dismissal schedule.
Early Dismissal Schedule (for 6/23/2023)
Middle School: 11:30am dismissal
Elementary School: 12:25pm dismissal
Early Childhood Learning Center: 12:25pm dismissal
For your calendars: As we look toward next school year, it is important to note that the start and end times for our schools have been changed in order to extend the length of school day by 15 minutes. I know that this seems like a tiny adjustment however, 15 minutes a day of additional academic instruction equates to 44.5 hours over the course of the school year. This is significant! Here are the new times:
Middle School: 7:25am - 2:15pm
Elementary School: 8:25am - 2:55pm
Early Childhood Learning Center:
- Kindergarten - 8:25am - 2:55pm
- Morning PreSchool - 8:25am - 11:15am
- Afternoon PreSchool - 12:15pm - 2:55pm
Also for next year: Mr. Safina, Middle School Principal, will be sending out communications to families throughout the summer regarding a Code of Conduct. A team of Middle School staff, in conjunction with the Student Council, have collaborated throughout this school year to develop clear expectations in a formalized Code of Conduct. We look forward to the consistency that this will provide.
Although tiring and hectic, this is an amazing time of the year! It is always fantastic to see our students’ growth and development over the course of a school year and the pride that is then apparent across the faces of staff and students alike as the year winds down. The celebrations, events, and graduations always give me goosebumps, a wide smile, and an overflowing “bucket.” For those of you who may not know the reference, the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” by Carol McCloud is a beautiful read that encourages positive behavior. You should check it out.
Respectfully,
Curriculum and Instruction
Good Afternoon Barrington Families,
I cannot believe we are approaching June already this year! NH State SAS testing has just about commenced for our schools and we will begin our iReady assessments in the near future. We are very excited to see how each student has grown academically over this school year and we are ready for the students to shine and show off all they have learned!
Tomorrow we kick-off our year long math programming implementation plan with a day of Reveal Math training Kindergarten through grade 5. Grades 6 though 8 teachers had their training day earlier this week. This is an exciting time of renewal and rejuvenation as we begin our journey into great new math programming and instruction for our students.
Thank you for a wonderful presentation by Kristyn Miles, BMS Health Teacher, at our May Empowering Families Workshop Night. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, a video was not able to be recorded. However, If you were not able to make it to this presentation, I am attaching the informative slideshow and cookbook Kristyn created for this night. Definitely, take a peak at the recipes...Kristyn made some of these recipes for us during the workshop and it was all so delicious!
Our final Empowering Families Workshop, Nurturing Wonder in the Outdoors, June 13th will be presented by Preschool Teacher and Nature-Based Learning Facilitator, Karly Wilcox. This will take place at the ECLC from 6-7. Come and learn about ways to get your child outdoors! Learn the benefits of nature-based learning and share hands-on ways to promote thinking, wonder, and awe in the natural world. This will kick off your summer and inspire ways to keep your family of all ages outdoors. As always, we are offering free childcare.

Facilities
The spring clean up has progressed nicely. The fields are looking good.
We are starting to get things lined up for our summer cleaning of the district, and projects that will be going on over the summer break.
Looking forward to more nice weather that is in store!
Food Services
We have many students with negative lunch balances. Please check your child’s account and make arrangements for payment as soon as possible. It is incredible how quickly these deficits can accumulate.
