Talley Street Update
August 25, 2022
January 12, 2023
Dear Talley Community,
I hope everyone is having a great week. On Tuesday, during the BOE meeting, the student house leaders presented to the board information about our new Talley House System. They did a fantastic job! Here is a link to the video that they shared with the board. We are so fortunate to have such great students at Talley Street. House Presentation
In November, I sent a link to the Georgia Parent Survey from the Georgia Department of Education. This is a yearly survey. As of now, our parent participation is not high enough. This could negatively impact Talley Street’s CCRPI score. If you have not already done so, please take a moment to complete the survey. The school truly uses the feedback from the survey to improve our practices. Thank you so much! Georgia Parent Survey
Enjoy the long weekend and the MLK holiday!

Car Riders - PLEASE READ!
This is an important reminder. If you are picking up for car riders you must go through the carpool lane! Do not park out front. This is a safety concern. Thank you!

FitnessGram is Approaching (end of January)
Beginning with the 2011-2012 school year, official Code of Georgia 20-2-777 requires each local school district to conduct an annual fitness assessment program for all students in grades K-12. What does that mean for your child in City Schools of Decatur? K–3rd grade students will be introduced to the following skills: PACER, push-ups, curl-ups, and back saver sit and reach. K-12 students will also have their height and weight measured. The skills will be formally assessed in grades 4-12. FitnessGram was selected because it measures only those areas of fitness related to the health of students. This includes: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition.
If you would like to submit your child’s height and weight confidentially, please use this google form. Deadline to submit is February 10, 2023. If you have any questions contact Nicole Johns (njohns@csdecatur.net) or Quonisha Jackson (qjackson@csdecatur.net)
Information about FitnessGram and the new requirements can be found at:
