PICTURES & NEWS
TOMORROW IS WALKING WEDNESDAY - the only one this month.
We are getting to the time of year where it feels a little harder to be motivated to join one of our Walking School Bus groups. Don't let the dark and colder temperatures scare you away. With the proper clothing, the walk can be a lot of fun.
If you join the groups passing through Taylor Park, you can play with some of the rolling robots. If you walk or roll to school on a bike or scooter, and you sign in at the front of school, you will be eligible for a raffle to win one of 10 warm winter hats. Given that walking numbers are lower at this time of year, your odds of winning a hat are pretty good.
TRUMPET PRACTICE WITH MR. KELLY
After half an hour of practice reading and playing music, students were asked to show individual understanding of specific notes and how to play them. Mr. Kelly urged at-home practice to make their playing skills sharp. These pictures came from each of the four students demonstrating their skills.
VOYAGERS AND TRIUMPH BROOMBALL P.E.
Fifth and sixth graders had broomball lessons with Ms. Jarvis and Mr. Fleming. Broomball is a form of floor hockey with rubberized brooms -safer during the early days of instruction. These pictures were taken of students playing games of dog catcher, a form of keep-away that improves their offensive and defensive broomball skills.
CHALLENGE TO BUILD A ROBOT FROM DONATED FOOD

SKIING OPPORTUNITY FOR 6TH-8TH GRADERS
Jay Peak Season’s Pass
We will have a limited number of Jay Peak Season’s Passes for students in grades 6-8. These will be useful for families that ski. Discounted equipment rentals are available. Transportation to and from the mountain is NOT included. Yet, for students that will have access to use this pass, we want to make it available.
Any student that would like to have access to a pass and feels they will be able to make use of it, please write a letter of request to Mr. Craib and explain how you are a Safe, Achieving, Caring member of our school community. Mr. Craib will create the list that goes to Jay Peak. Pass award letters will be given to each qualified student. The deadline for letters of request is Friday December 8th.

Stay tuned for a brand new school mystery complete with new characters and lots of coding adventure for all age groups, a dance party, AI challenges, and so much more!!
Tuesday, December 5th
Artificial Intelligence is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.
For Grade 3 and up:
Artificial Intelligence has recently been in the press a lot as companies use more and more computer science in their work. Here is a video (7mins) that explains what AI is and how it works from the founders of a popular AI chatbot called ChatGPT: https://youtu.be/X-AWdfSFCHQ
Once you have understood a little about how this works, try ChatGPT as a class! You will need to login using your Google account. We recommend asking it to create a poem about a set of topics! How did it do?
Want to go further? The makerspace team has lots of resources on AI–just reach out with questions!
