Mrs. Gould and Mrs. Wilcox
Mother Nature is our teacher!
We have been learning to look closely at the natural world around us. As we look closely we begin to notice and wonder. As we wonder we begin to ask questions. Asking questions leads to endless learning, and a helps us to have a full, exciting life.
Butterfly garden
Our butterfly garden is on one of the kindergarten playgrounds. The children enjoy observing many different friends with wings as they fly from flower to flower.
Garden Spider
We visited Kenny's Garden in the back of our school by the car rider line. A beautiful garden spider was at work making a web. This type of spider spins a distinctive zipper pattern on its web.
Morning Glory Flowers
On our way to our morning recess, Morning Glory flowers greet us with their beautiful colors.
Another Garden Spider!
Seeing similar creatures in different areas helps us to compare and contrast appearance and behaviors of life around us.
Lizard
A lizard peeked out at us from the top of a wall!
Our Class Pet
Rocky is our class pet. He is a guinea pig.
Nature Trail
We took our first trip to the outdoor classroom and the nature trail. It is a well cleared and well marked trail in the woods behind our school.
Along the Nature Trail
We noticed many types of plants and seeds along the trail, along with footprints of animals. We noticed animal homes in the base of trees and in the earth along the trails.
Signs of Fall!
We are learning about the season of fall, and here is one sign that fall is here. A red leaf!
Feelings and Friendships
We have been learning about feelings, and how to be a good friend. It is so beautiful to watch the children care for each other, and bonds of friendship are getting stronger every day.
Student of the Day
Each day we have a new Student of the Day. This child gets to point to the numbers on the calendar, hold the flag for the pledge of allegiance, and be the line leader all day. We also ask this person questions so we can get to know each other better.
Learning through Play
Free Choice Center time allows children to explore materials and learn many social and academic skills.
Event Information
Literacy Night
Literacy Night is a chance for our families to gather and develop a love for books. Books are like good friends because they comfort, inspire, and teach us. There will be a wonderful information session on how to help your child at home to begin the process of learning to read. The book fair will also be open and there will be lots of great, inexpensive books available.
