RRHS Update - Week of 8/19/2024
Welcome Back!
Welcome!
On behalf of the faculty and staff of Rock Ridge High School, welcome to school year 2025!
This marks our tenth year, and our community will note new upgrades throughout the building - new sound systems in the auditorium, cafeteria, gyms and athletic field, new turf on athletic fields, new paint throughout the building, new cafeteria furniture and the list goes on! Our staff is especially renewed in their focus on meaningful instructional experiences that help our students contribute to the world in meaningful ways.
We are excited to invite alumni and former staff back to celebrate our Homecoming/Dedication during the week of September 23, 2024, but we are looking forward to inviting alumni from all classes all year long to share experiences with students and provide insight into life beyond Ashburn.
I am including a video of some of our students leaders from all of our graduating classes. This was shown to our teachers upon their return and serves as a reminder of the influence of our incredible teachers.
Additionally, we start this year recognized as a U.S News and World Reports BEST SCHOOL as well as recognized as a VHSL/National Guard Gold Cup winner!
We look forward to another landmark year at The Rock in our 10th Year!
Yours,
John Duellman

Reduced Lunch Application Link
Free and Reduced Lunch Program
The Free and Reduced Lunch Program provides free or reduced-price meals to families who meet the income eligibility guidelines.
Please note that all families must submit a new application for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program each school year. The application portal on, LINQ Connect, is open. After your application is processed, and if approved, you will receive an eligibility letter from School Nutrition.
Families who have already received updated confirmation letters may not need to reapply. However, families with automatic qualification should ensure they receive an eligibility letter (approval letter) as confirmation for the 2024-2025 school year. This includes students directly certified through programs like McKinney-Vento, SNAP, income-eligible Medicaid, and TANF.
If you have not yet received your eligibility letter, please email freeandreduced@lcps.org or call School Nutrition Services at 540-751-2690. You can also reach out to your family liaison by emailing Sophia Saib if you have any questions.
Student Parking Permits!
Student parking permits:
Parking Permit Information and Application
If you are going to drive a vehicle to RRH there are some rules and procedures to follow. You MUST complete the Parking Pass Application.
Don’t delay and the passes are currently available at no cost to every driving student with parent’s permission. Use the link above to complete the on-line form and then seek me, SSO Kinkead out during your lunch. I will confirm the form was completed, verify your driving status, and then issue you a parking pass. Please only park in the front student parking lot (A-5). Ensure you don’t delay in obtaining your pass as enforcement will begin on September 5.
Please respect painted reserved spaces of your fellow students. If you didn’t pay for one of these reserved spaces, please park in any other open, unpainted student lot parking spaces.
Thank you,
Your Rock Ridge Safety & Security Team

Schedules
Schedules are live through Parent/StudentVue. Make sure you have completed all of the first day paperwork so you have full access to Parentvue, https://www.lcps.org/firstday
Please remember that the deadline to change courses was last Spring. We have built the school schedule based on student requests. At this time there are not options for changes as classes and staffing were based on requests. So please understand, when we are not able to honor a late request for a course change.
Schoolinks
Onboarding for Schoolinks- Students and parents this is your homework to complete ASAP. Schoolinks is accessed through LCPS Go. Please have your student complete the following. Doing this will jumpstart your students’ progress!!!

Seniors
Please see Mrs. Marchante’s e-mail on the “College Jumpstart” workshop on Monday. Many of the seniors sign up last Spring. This is your chance to get ahead on your college applications and essays.
Senior Parents please carefully read the Transcript Waiver release when working through the “1st day information forms” online. This release allows counselors to send colleges your student’s information.
Common App is open for this year!!! Please sent up your account NOW!!!
After setting up your Common App account. Review your Schoolinks account.
From there counselors will walk students through:
- How to link your Common App and Schoolinks
- How to add colleges and make transcript request
- Please note do not make teacher letters of recommendation request through Common App. We will be using Schoolinks for letters of recommendation.
We will work with seniors through their senior meetings and send out more information on using Schoolinks.
