This Week's Events
Turn-In Week
As a reminder Thursday, February 15th is the last day of Month 6, so make sure to turn your audit samples in early. Mt. Everest Academy will be closed on Friday.
Calling all whimsical crafters!
Ms. Shannon is hosting a “make a fairy door and find a tree for it” on Tuesday, February 13 from 12:30-1:45 (lunch supervision provided).
We have wood fairy doors and acrylic markers to design your own door, and then Ms. Shannon will apply a protective acrylic spray. We will walk the campus (as a group) once all doors are finished on Tuesday, Feb 13, and find bases of trees to attach the doors.
This is an event co-sponsored by our school’s Wellness committee in efforts to “gather and grow” or “connect and create” off a device or screen.
All are welcome! All ages. One door per student. For students not attending class on Tuesday, please sign them in at the front office and have them meet Ms. Shannon in the K-5 outdoor space/tables. Please pick up your students in the front office by 1:15.
Academic League Competes!
This Thursday Feb. 15 at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium, the MEA Academic League team will compete against Mission Bay High School. Answering a series of questions about a variety of topics (from Math to Movies), the contestants try to outwit and out-maneuver their opponents. Come out and support our team!
Spikeball Tournament Postponed
MEA's First Spikeball Mini-Tournament has been regrettably posted poned. We are looking at possible alternative dates in the future.

Leader in Me - Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood.
Habit 5 focuses on acting within your Circle of Influence — understanding the other person and expressing yourself. Those actions, in turn, can help you effectively influence other people, which can influence situations that impact you, which expands your Circle of Influence.
Communication is a critical aspect of productive interpersonal relationships. When truly effective interdependent people communicate, they first try to understand the other person’s perspective before expressing their own. On a larger scale, this principle holds true in many professions.
We discussed in Habit 4 that an essential step in reaching a Win/Win solution is to try to understand the other person’s perspective and concerns. The key to truly understanding people is empathic listening, which is listening with the intent to see their perspective. Empathetic listening is necessary to work on habit 5: seek first to understand, then to be understood.
