Jag News
Week of 5/6 - 10, 2023-24
Message from the Principal
For the next two weeks we will be administering all of the AP exams. The information is below including a schedule for students. It is very important that students taking an AP exam arrive early and have their ID. Once the test time starts, no one can start late.
As we enter the 7th week of the nine weeks, please be sure to keep up with assignments and attendance during this time of the year. The 6th week Progress Report will be available to view in Skyward on Wednesday. As we go to the end of the year, attendance and keeping up with your grades is very important! There are only 2 Saturday School opportunities left to make up attendance.
Students, it is that time of year when everyone needs to consider the decisions they make and the ramifications of bad decisions. Seniors have 15 days of school left and underclassmen have 19 days left. As you finish the 23-24 school year, be careful in what you do and choices you make. We want all of our Jags to be safe and well this spring!
Please be sure to read the information below regarding semester exam exemptions and semester exam schedules. Be sure read all of the information below and continue to check your NEISD student email periodically for information.
We are looking forward to a great year for our Jags!
Sincerely,
Gary Comalander - Principal

The Johnson HS PTSA Smart Driving Club was honored May 2 by District Councilman Marc Whyte for their continued efforts to end the culture of distracted and impaired driving. Students were recognized by Mayor Nirenberg, Councilman Courage and several other council members during a city council session.
Club students spoke to the importance of their work and why they joined the club.
Thanks to Councilman Whyte and our local leaders for highlighting this important issue and the hard work of club students.

CTJ Library Overdue/Lost Books!
Parents & Students, we are asking for your help to start finding and returning overdue books. A slip will be given to all students with an overdue book in their 2nd period class.
On the slip there is a cost ONLY if the book is lost. There are no late or overdue fees/cost involved.
If you have any questions, please check with our library.
CTJ/NEISD Discipline change E-cigarettes & Vaping
HB 114, requires a student to be removed from class/school and placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) for possessing, using, selling, giving, or delivering to another person an e-cigarette/vaping device.
This law includes nicotine vape pens or any components of a vaping device.
Nothing is changing with regards to the law and consequences on when a device tests positive for THC. For THC, the 1st offense is a longer recommendation to DAEP and a 2nd offense for THC can be a recommendation of Expulsion from NEISD.
