Happy Friday, Lil Steamer Families!
August 16, 2024
From the desk of: Principal Hoese
I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for the grace and positivity you have show our school and our staff this past week. Having a construction project coming down to the wire and starting school on time has been quite the adventure!
I'm happy to report that our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures have run the best in my 6 years as principal. That is a big credit to our families for making that run smooth; THANK YOU!
Our school year is off to a great start and I'm excited to share a few awesome surprises with you throughout the year. Thanks for helping to make this the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe!

It's only been three days, but I can tell this year is going to be great! We have a lot of new Lil Steamer friends, a handful of new staff, and a lot of new space. It's definitely a great time to be a Lil Steamer here at FES!
As we help students acclimate to the school schedule, it would be helpful if they spent less time in front of a screen outside of school. The chart below provides guidelines from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
From the Desk of: Counselor Meumann
I had the opportunity to visit each classroom this week and welcome everyone back. I was able to explain exactly what a counselor does. I used a smore as a visual to explain this. The bottom cracker is for support. I support the students and encourage them to see me if they are struggling. The chocolate is the sweet part. The sweet part of my job is working with the students. The marshmallows are the students. I explained how I see students individually and in groups to help them to work through anything they may be struggling with. Sometimes students may feel like their world is falling apart. I am here to support those students and to help them to develop strategies and coping skills to work through it. I also make monthly visits to their classrooms to talk about friendship, responsibility, and problem solving.
A Note from 1B Ms. Hanson:
Hi 1B Families!,
I want to inform you that at the beginning of the year I will only be there for a short time as I will be going on maternity leave to have a baby girl. While it is unfortunate to miss the beginning of the school year, I will have an excellent maternity substitute. Mrs. LeeAnn Steele is a retired teacher and she has dedicated almost 3 decades to FES. She will be covering my maternity leave and I will return mid October. We both look forward to teaching your child and getting to know them.
Sincerely,
Ms. Hanson

Clifford Hunt in KA!
Students in KA had a great time reading stories about Clifford this week. On Friday, we made Clifford hats to wear as we searched the building to find him. We searched and searched the building with clues Clifford left for us. Our last clue sent us to Mr. Hoese's office where we found a dog bowl of treats left for us by Clifford! Even thought we did not find him, we had fun looking!

Students in KA had fun reading stories about Clifford this week. We made Clifford hats to wear as we searched for the big red dog. After searching the building with clues left by Clifford, we were not able to find him. Even though we didnt't find him, Clifford left a treats for us in Mr. Hoese's office!
