Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families—Just two weeks to go, so hang in there and let’s finish strong! I’ve been thinking about all you senior parents gearing up for graduation. If it’s your first child graduating—that one is the toughest, because it’s a new experience for the family. You’re so busy planning and getting ready and it’s not until you sit in the arena and see them cross the stage that it really hits you that your ‘baby’ is all grown up and will be moving on to start a new life. You’ll experience a lot of emotions! It’s still an emotional time even the 2nd, 3rd, or however many times you have one of your own graduate, but it gets easier because you’ve had the experience, and it’s going to be OK! So enjoy this coming Senior Week and encourage your senior to spend time with their classmates before they all go different directions.
One more reminder to please check your senior’s fines/fees. These need to be paid in order to receive the physical diploma. It doesn’t impact graduation or issuing of transcripts.
After the seniors graduate, the rest of us will finish the final week to wrap up the academic year with finals and a celebratory Field Day, June 12. I do receive complaints about this, but I don’t actually control the calendar. We will have a similar calendar (ending on Tuesday) this coming year, but we’ll also get information about new calendar options from the Balanced Calendar committee work that has been happening this spring. The district calendar is approved on a 2 year cycle.
But, back to that last Monday, here’s why it matters. It’s the last day to check out with your teachers, and spend time with friends, and making lasting memories. We started a tradition our first year and plan it again for Monday to end our year together in the stadium-- All As One. The cool part is the on-campus parade, together as one, on our final march to close out the year and do the “final countdown” and Summer Send-off! That’s a memory!
We wrap up the year on Monday, June 17, with a half day/early release.
Just a reminder that we’ll be distributing yearbooks on Tuesday. I had the honor of opening and receiving the First year book for the year and we did our big reveal! Pictured here with some of the crew (L-R: Max , Alexis, Cory, Ava, Grace, and Ryland) you can call the business office if you’re not sure if you’ve purchased one yet. We have a few remaining.
Senior Prom is tomorrow at the Riverside Place, downtown Spokane. This is always an exciting event, and fun way to celebrate the end of the year in elegant fashion!
If you want to have some real fun, come see the spectacle that is the Staff vs Student softball game this afternoon, right here on our own softball complex. We get out there around 2:30 for pre-game activities, and first pitch happens once we’re organized and ready! Bring the family to enjoy the food trucks as well! This is a FREE event, only for fun… and bragging rights!
There’s always more, so please stay informed—read the Falcon Flyer!
Make it a great weekend! –Mr. Hardt
Student Services
2024 Senior Survey
Greetings, Senior parents/guardians! Each year, I send out a Senior Survey at year end to collect important information from students. Among other things, their answers will help us learn more about their post-high school plans and how RHS can support students who will come after them. For those attending a college or university next fall, completing Question #7 will enable us to get their FINAL TRANSCRIPTS out to their colleges/universities on time. So completing this survey is vitally important, as students may not be able to register for college/university classes until their chosen institutions receive their final transcripts.) Please encourage your student(s) to access the link Mr. Spraggins provided in Google Classroom and complete the survey. Thanks for helping us help them, and please contact Mr. Spraggins with any questions (bspraggins@cvsd.org)!
Decision Day 2024!
It's that time of year when everyone wants to celebrate both high school graduations and the "What's next?" seniors have chosen. We here at RHS are no different! And so, next Monday, June 3, we will celebrate the decisions your seniors have made about their "What's next"? with group pics throughout the day! Whether your student has chosen to pursue a trade, join the workforce, serve our country, or attend college, we will highlight your student! So, we invite you to encourage them to come to the Counseling and Student Services Center for pics in the swag that represents their choice at the time appointed for them by Mr. Spraggins!

Civics Bowl Championship
Hey Ridgeline! Tune in to KSPS television on Monday June 3 to watch your fellow Falcons compete in the Civics Bowl Championship. This episode was filmed in March, and we can confirm it was Madness. You’ll have to tune-in to see the epic ending of this competitive match. The episode will be available on the KSPS website after Monday.
"The future is in good hands" was my favorite quote of the day. Today, we held our annual Sustainable City Forum for AP Environmental Science. Students used their knowledge from all 9 units to plan a city and then present it to members of the community. We had elected officials, school board members, city council, law enforcement, resource management employees, medical staff and school staff sit down with our students and give feedback of their ideas. They learned from each other, and our students came away with confidence and pride and a new respect for public works. And that was only the first half of the day...
Thank you to all who supported us today!
AP Environmental Science students spent the afternoon in the field exploring the Saltese Wetlands. We put up fencing to protect the trees from beaver and learned about their importance in the ecosystem. We took water quality samples and accessed the health of the wetland. Then, the students got to be little kids again, inspecting the macroinvertebrates (bugs in the water).
We want to express our gratitude to The Lands Council for their investment in environmental education. They provide the professionals in the field to teach our students as well as the funding.
Holy Motivational Speaker, Falcons! Nolan Ulm, EWU Senior Football Player, totally drew in our Ridgeline students during both lunches on Wednesday as he helped them understand the importance of knowing their "WHY" to keep them motivated to make small wins towards their goals (their burns) every single day. Thank you, Nolan, for taking the time to inspire us. We would love to have you come back and share more of your inspiring messages! Go Eags! 👏👏👏 this event was sponsored by the Business Club!
Board & Young Reader books needed
The library is looking to expand our children’s book collection to support ALL of our Ridgeline Readers. If you have any sturdy board books, or books that appeal to young readers – especially nonfiction picture books – we would LOVE to have them. Books that are as young as Kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome! Please send them to the library with your teen or drop the books off anytime during our office hours. Thank you for supporting our Ridgeline Readers!

Unified Pickleball
Did you know that in 2022 pickleball became the official sport of the state of Washington? We were excited to join the pickleball movement this year by offering a season of Unified Pickleball. Unified is our inclusive sports program that invites students with and without disabilities to come play together. Beginning in April we met once a week and played not only pickleball, but also cornhole, Spikeball, connect four, basketball, and ring toss. We got some activity in, we made memories and developed friendships. May 22nd Central Valley High School and University High School Unified groups came and joined us. Interested in playing Unified? Watch out next fall for soccer registration information. Thanks for making this a fulfilling community to be a part of!
Graphic Arts 2 students
Go check out the Graphic Arts 2 students' digital illustrations currently on display at the Liberty Lake Municipal Library Art Gallery from May 28th through June 10th. The students were given a random fairy tale title and had to come up with a concept and digitally illustrate an original book cover from their ideas using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Great creativity, Falcon artists!💚
Falcon Artists
Congratulations to Peyton Hooper, Savvy Woodruff, and Kenze Reynolds on winning our Spring Falcon fine arts showcase! These three amazing artists created some incredible pieces that were voted on by their peers to win best pottery piece, painting, and drawing. Way to go!
Mr. Genther’s Painting 1 classes made group grid paintings of famous Impressionist paintings by Vincent van Gogh and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Each class had to communicate and work together to align their shapes, harmonize colors, and achieve unity within their painting. 3rd period successfully recreated the challenging Renoir painting “Two Sisters (On the Terrace)”. Great job to both classes! *Fun fact: both of the original masterpieces can be viewed at the Art Institute of Chicago
