Procedure Reminder: Drop-Offs During The School Day
We are asking parents/guardians to refrain from dropping items off during the school day.
It is the students' responsibility remember their lunches, equipment, etc. when they come to school in the morning. The number of items being dropped off is becoming overwhelming for the main office staff, and creates a safety concern in the main entrance and office.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Food For All: Community Meal Packing Event
NFHS Food For All Initiative is a club that aims to fight food insecurity locally, nationally and internationally by participating in various food packaging events. We are having our first packaging event on Saturday, September 21st from 11:00-1:00.
If you are available, please consider donating 2 hours of your time to volunteer at the event (details on the poster below). If you or someone you know is interested, please visit the link below to register. We encourage you to bring family and friends, we're looking to have as many volunteers as we can possibly get! Every single volunteer is meaningful and helps us achieve our goal of packaging 25,000 meals. Students who attend will be given community service hours to fulfill part of their graduation requirement.
NFHS students can count participation toward their community service graduation requirement!

Counseling Curriculum Update
The NFHS School Counseling Team, in partnership with the College and Career Center, has further developed its Comprehensive School Counseling Program to enhance student support. School Counselors and the School Counseling Department Chair have designed programming that is aligned with the ASCA (American School Counseling Association) and CSCA (Connecticut School Counseling Association) standards.
The NFHS Comprehensive School Counseling Program curriculum plan was created to deliver timely and relevant programming to students throughout the year during F-day Rebel periods, with a rotating grade-level focus each quarter. The program addresses the key areas of academic development, career planning, and social/emotional well-being.
The School Counseling team will provide programming to students in grades 9-12 using various formats, including classroom lessons, grade-level meetings, and small group and individual sessions. Through this program, students will receive support in academic goal setting, exploring career options, building interpersonal skills, and developing coping strategies.
The program implementation and rollout for the 2024-2025 academic year began with a grade-level “Welcome Grade 9—Know Your Supports” lesson and a grade 12 “Welcome to Senior Year—Post-High School Planning” class meeting. This year's programming will continue to focus on providing tailored guidance and support to students at each stage of their high school journey.

Open House Recap (and Join the PTO!)
It was wonderful to see our Rebel families at Open House on Thursday! We hope that you enjoyed meeting our teachers as much as they love teaching our students! As Mr. D'Amico said during the Open House Welcome, our community is only strong when the school and families are partners in serving the best interests of our students!
Of particular importance are updates to attendance procedures for participation in co-curricular activities and our personal elecrtonic device procedures, all in place to help our students focus on their education.
If you were unable to attend Open House, or wanted to review something that was presented in the theater, please use the link below to see the slides from Mr. D'Amico's presentation.
Join the PTO!
An important part of the partnership between parents/guardians and NFHS is the PTO!
The PTO sponsors scholarships, student assistance efforts, sponsors creative projects by our teachers, and helps keep our staff well-supported (and well-fed!) throughout the year.
Imagine what we could do if EVERY NFHS family joined the PTO! Annual membership is only $20 per family.
Please use the link below to join today! Membership fee can be paid by check, cash, or Venmo.
