A COMMITMENT TO CHOICE
School choice means giving families access to a variety of K-12 education options for their students.
Rutherford County Schools is committed to ensuring we are responsive to our families’ needs, that our families are engaged as partners, and that students have access to a variety of options. Our school choices include high-quality community schools, specialized academic programs and academic magnet schools, a virtual school program, an MTSU laboratory school, and personalized learning environments.
We encourage you to learn more about our academic offerings, enrichment opportunities, and exceptional choices through this School Selection Guide. Please use this resource to explore all that Rutherford County Schools has to offer.
For more information about school choice in Rutherford County email choice@rcschools.net or follow on Twitter @RCSchoice.
Choice School applications for 2025-2026
Rutherford County Schools will open choice school applications for the 2025-2026 school year in two phases.
Those parents wishing to apply for a seat at Central Magnet School, Holloway High School, Homer Pittard Campus School, McFadden School of Excellence, the Rutherford County Virtual School, and Thurman Francis Arts Academy, applications will be accepted from Dec. 1, 2024 through Jan. 31, 2025.
You can learn more about these schools by visiting their websites or visiting one of the upcoming parent information sessions (see schedule below).
Applications will also be accepted during this time for the two RCS charter schools, Springs Empower Academy and American Classical Academy Rutherford.
SCHEDULE OF PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS
Applications will begin December 1 using this link: https://rcschools.schoolmint.com
Current RCS students: To find the correct student ID # to use for the application, log into your Skyward account, go to the student info tab, and look for "other ID." This is the correct number to use for your student ID number on the application. If you still have trouble, please contact the choice schools' coordinator, Jeff McCann, at Choice@rcschools.net.
---
Availability for choice seats (zone exemptions) to any other Rutherford County school will be released in mid-December 2024, and applications will be accepted through January 31, 2025. Once the application window closes for these schools, a random lottery will be used to decide who receives a seat. A choice school fair will be scheduled for January.
The determination of open seats will be decided after the School Board makes a final decision on the upcoming rezoning plan. A meeting to decide this zoning is scheduled for Dec. 10, 2024 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the RCS Central Office, 2240 Southpark Drive in Murfreesboro. This meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on YouTube.

No outside food deliveries for grade 6-12
Just a reminder that we do not allow food deliveries for students in grades 6-12 from the outside. Students need to bring their lunch or they can purchase one from the school cafeteria.

Elementary Eagle Expectations with poster below.
We are in full swing of practicing our Elementary School Wide Eagle Expectations! Ask your student questions to see if they know the expectations in different areas of the school!
We encourage you to use familiar vocabulary at home to help make connections within their home, school and community!
They are also working hard to earn Class Dojo points when they follow these expectations. They have a chance at the end of every month to "purchase" rewards from the Talon Trolley with their earned points.
HOSA
The HOSA Club is collecting cans as a fundraiser again this year. Please dispose of your aluminum cans in 1 of the 5 recycling bins that are located in the hallways.
