Around the District!
Although the end of this school year is approaching fast, We're busy all around this district with exciting activities, great events and tons of stories!

Mrs. Aldridge’s class took out time to sing “What a Beautiful World,” to Laura Blalock, the FDECC's volunteer of the year. To give one’s time and talent for a good cause is a special feeling that has helped the staff and students of Fred Douglass ECC.
Jefferson Elementary
Jefferson Elementary dedicated a reading area to honor the memory of Patrick "PJ" Johnson. PJ was an Austin College mentor during the 2017 school year. He played basketball for Austin College, loved animals, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Tragically, PJ lost his life in a car accident on November 10, 2017. He made a positive impact on those around him and Jefferson honored his memory with PJ's corner, a legacy to the students of Jefferson Elementary. (In the photos, Jaeden reads next to PJ's photo. PJ was Jaeden's mentor.)

Mrs. Favors' second-grade class was challenged to make a newspaper shoe that they could walk in for 10 minutes without it falling apart. Several of the students were successful in their attempt.
