What's Happening This Week: Celebrating Growth
Dear WES Family,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with the same sense of pride and purpose that I feel as we wrap up another impactful week together. I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your dedication, collaboration, and hard work during our professional learning sessions as we planned for STAAR Blitz and instruction over the next two weeks.
Your focus and commitment to excellence were evident in every discussion, activity, and shared idea. It is inspiring to see how deeply you care about crafting intentional, meaningful plans to ensure our students have every opportunity to succeed. This week was a powerful example of what we can achieve together when we unite under our "We Before Me" vision.
I’m thrilled to celebrate a significant milestone with you: 252 of our students have met their MAP Reading and/or Math goals for the winter! This accomplishment is a direct reflection of your unwavering efforts to build relationships with students, parents, and the community, paired with your intentional planning to meet the diverse needs of each learner. Every conversation, lesson plan, and moment of encouragement you’ve offered has contributed to these incredible gains.
Our work is far from over, but I know that your continued focus on doing what’s best for students will make a profound difference in their growth moving forward. As we head into these next two weeks, let us continue to embody our "We Before Me" vision, leaning on one another, sharing strategies, and keeping students at the center of all we do. Together, we are building a foundation of success for every child in our care.
Thank you for your passion, energy, and commitment. You are truly making a difference, and I am honored to work alongside each of you.
With gratitude and admiration,
Venitra Senegal
Principal

Let's rally together to help our students rise to the Zearn challenge! Starting this week, we’re focusing on ensuring our students meet the goal of completing at least three lessons per week. To make it exciting, the class with the highest percentage of students completing at least three lessons each week will win a celebration of the teacher's choice (pending admin approval) for the last 30 minutes of the day. Let’s inspire our students, support each other, and make this challenge a success! 🎉
Weekly Reminders
Family Circles & Reset for 2025- Remember to hold Community Circles with your class every morning. These circles are a wonderful way to connect with your students, showing them that you care about them as individuals and learners. They also create a space where students can share their thoughts and feel that their voices are valued by both their peers and you as their teacher.
2nd Nine Weeks Awards- Teachers will receive awards for your class by Wednesday, January 15th, ensure that awards are sorted by student so that the awards program runs smoothly.
Jackets, Hats, Gloves, and Scarves during Specials- Jackets remain in the classroom for Specials, students may have jackets for lunch/recess but must wear the jackets while they are in the common area. We had parents call last week inquiring about students' outside apparel that was left in a special classroom. We need your help with adhering to this expectation. The temperatures in the special classes (except for PE) have been adjusted.
