Advertising in the Annie Program Book
Who can advertise? Businesses, family members, neighbors, and supporters.
What are the advertisement options?
- Business Card - $25
- 1/4 page - $50
- 1/2 page (5.5" x 4.25") - $100
- Full page (5.5" x 8.5") - $200
How can I advertise and what is the deadline?
Purchasing an advertisement in the Annie Program Book goes a long way to show support for our school's drama and music departments, our student performers, and staff.
- To place an Ad in the Program Book, completing the Advertisement Form is required. (A printable hard copy of the form is available here to help with any outreach.)
- Upon receipt of the form, Palumbo's Home and School Association will contact individuals/businesses for their artwork.
- Ads will appear in black and white in the Program Book.
- Deadline: Advertisements must be received and paid for by March 24.

*Applications for Student Board Representative are Now Open!
The Board of Education is looking for Student Board Representatives for the 2025-2026 school year — and we need your help to spread the word! Please encourage your student leaders or activists to submit their applications by April 25, 2025. The Philadelphia Board of Education would like to invite all who are interested to apply!
Student Board Representatives serve as leaders for their peers and commit themselves to ensuring that students across Philadelphia have a seat at the table and a voice in the decision-making process.
To qualify as a Student Board Representative or Alternate, students must:
Be a current resident of Philadelphia and attend a Philadelphia district or charter school;
Currently, be in the 9th or 10th grade (students must be in 10th or 11th grade during their term as a Student Board Representative);
Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher and be in good standing;
Be actively involved in their school community and willing to work to support Philadelphia’s public schools, on behalf of their peers, on a regular basis; and
Be willing to represent their peers at Board of Education meetings, communicate student opinions to the Board, and report Board deliberations and actions to the student body.
Student Board Representatives are expected to participate in the following activities throughout their term:
Advise the Board of Education on matters in the best interest of all students in Philadelphia, including the development and revision of Board policies;
Serve on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council and the Board of
Education;Serve as leaders that represent the student voice for all Philadelphia public schools (district and charter);
Make every effort to attend and participate in all public meetings of the Board of Education held outside of their school day;
Receive orientation, training, and support from the Office of the Board of Education in relation to fulfilling their role on the Board; and
Participate in weekly student board representative check-ins.

Logan Matthew Israel Memorial Scholarship - Application Deadline - May 9, 2025
This scholarship has been established in memory of Academy at Palumbo student Logan Matthew Israel, who died in November 2022 and would have been graduating this year.
Who is eligible to apply?
This scholarship is open to Academy at Palumbo Seniors (Class of 2026), who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare (mental health, therapy, nursing, psychiatry, medicine, etc.)
Two seniors will be selected to receive scholarships.
A 400–600-word essay is required.
AI FOR ALL - PRINCETON UNIVERSITY - CURRENT 10TH GRADE STUDENTS
The Princeton University Computer Science Department, in partnership with the AI4ALL Foundation, will host its eighth annual Princeton AI4ALL camp this summer. Princeton AI4ALL is a residential camp, which will run for 3 weeks, from July 9th - July 30th, 2025. Princeton AI4ALL is intended to increase diversity and inclusion in the field of artificial intelligence. Our mission is to inspire tomorrow’s leaders to know, think about, and use artificial intelligence ethically. We educate students through a combination of lectures, hands-on research projects, field trips, and mentorship.
The program targets current 10th graders (rising 11th graders) from low-income backgrounds. No prior programming experience is required. Applications are particularly encouraged from young women and other groups dramatically underrepresented in AI*.
Our program has no tuition costs, and all costs related to room, board, and field trips are covered by the program. We can also provide financial assistance with transportation costs to and from Princeton if needed.

SYOP Application Now Open
Imagine your students completing high school with a diploma and up to 27 transferable college credits, or multiple industry certifications to jump-start your college and career goals! This is what SDP’s Senior Year Only Programs (SYOP) are all about and the application is NOW OPEN until April 4th!
The Senior Year Only Program seeks to prepare high school seniors for both college and career by connecting classroom learning with real-world applications in the workplace.
Students enrolled in SYOP either take classes on a college campus or spend time at the Fox Chase Farm (where they'd earn industry certifications in urban agriculture).
The Senior Year Only Program is a full school year commitment.
Breakfast and lunch are provided.
All students will receive a SEPTA fare card for travel to and from the program. Additional information about transportation will be communicated to families after enrollment is confirmed.

The School District of Philadelphia is re-launching Parent & Family University, and they want to hear from you! Join them at one of seven Kickoff Tour sessions being hosted around the city this spring. These interactive sessions offer an opportunity to:
- Connect with District leaders, families, and community members to discuss community interests and needs.
- Provide your input on the types of learning opportunities and resources you would like to see Parent & Family University offer.
- Learn about the launch of the Superintendent’s Parent & Guardian Advisory Council and apply if you meet eligibility requirements.

GRIFFINS ON THE NATIONAL STAGE!!!
Congratulations to Coach Stamps and the Indoor Track Team on their OUTSTANDING performance this weekend at the New Balance Nationals in Boston, MA! Be sure to check out the video of the amazing race on Instagram @aaptrackand field!!! Kudos on an absolutely amazing season. Your dedication and drives really shines!!!

This weekend Palumbo secured spots at another National tournament. This one is the week-long National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament, which this year is in Des Moines.
Please congratulate (again):
- 3rd place qualifiers (in a VERY competitive pool) in Public Forum Debate: Una Cutrone and Rose Semmel
- NSDA Valley Forge District Champions in Duo Interp: Leyi Li and Xavier Rivera
This means both teams achieved the trifecta of States, NCFL Grand Nationals, and NSDA Nationals. Rose and Una also qualified to this year's Tournament of Champions through their performance at last year's NCFL Grand Nationals. Both teams have worked hard, and it has paid off.

- FINAL REMINDER! Workforce Development and Internship Opportunities Fair: Next Wednesday, 3/19 from 3:30-7:00, OSPR will host a Workforce Development and Internship Opportunities Fair at MLK High School (6100 Stenton Ave). Representatives and organizations will offer a range of full-time, part-time, and summer job opportunities, both traditional and non-traditional training programs, certificate programs, work-based learning activities, and industry-specific job training programs. Registration is required HERE.
- Center for Male Engagement, Summer Enrichment Program: The CME at CCP provides its members with targeted academic and non-academic supports designed to enhance skill sets, cultivate a sense of belonging, and build resolve as students pursue a degree at CCP and beyond. The Summer Enrichment Program, specifically, provides an enhanced orientation to CCP, giving new students the opportunity to engage in life at the College prior to the larger population arriving on campus. Students who successfully complete the program automatically become CME members. This summer's program will run July 7-31 and students can apply HERE.
- Black Women's Educational Alliance Scholarships: Two BWEA Philadelphia Chapter scholarships are now available! Three awards will be distributed for the General Scholarship–students pursuing an education major, any major, or students attending an HBCU pursuing any major, and one award will be distributed for the High School Student with Exceptions Scholarship–students with a certified IEP and graduating on IEP goals. - Foster Care to College Convening: Join us virtually on 3/18 from 10-11:30 to learn about financial aid opportunities available to foster youth, about college-based support programs that help foster youth from application to graduation, and hear from a panel of college reps that will introduce their support programs. Paid Summer Opportunity for Juniors and Seniors
Philadelphia Financial Scholars has opened the application for our Summer Experienceship Program for high school students in the Class of 2025 and Class of 2026. n addition to gaining valuable career and workforce development experience, students will be paid ~$1,000 ($22/hr.)!

ProFESS Program for Future Environmental Scientists and Stewards
Land Health is now recruiting high school students for our ProFESS Program this summer! STUDENTS CAN APPLY THROUGH THIS LINK. Applications are due March 30th and must include a letter of recommendation.
Our Program for Future Environmental Scientists and Stewards (ProFESS) is a free, 8-week summer program that seeks to empower high school students (8th-12th) to become future environmental scientists and stewards through hands-on, immersive environmental education.
This year, students can earn up to $400 for program participation, depending upon their overall attendance and participation. Our program is scheduled to begin June 23rd and to end August 15th. ProFESSers should anticipate committing up to 8 hrs/week (2-3 days) to ProFESS, including occasional Saturdays. We would love the opportunity to mentor your students about the natural world and to inspire them to do more good in preserving our Philly green spaces!

LINDSEY VONN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Lindsey Vonn Foundation Scholarships provide vital financial support for girls aged 10-18 to pursue their passions, whether in academics, sports, or personal enrichment.
The program is specifically designed for girls from underserved communities and offers up to $5,000 per scholarship. It’s not just about financial assistance—it’s about helping young women build confidence, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals.
There are two types of scholarships:
- Enrichment Scholarships: For academic and enrichment activities like summer programs, music lessons, or other skill-building opportunities.
- Sport Scholarships: For young athletes to improve their skills and grow in their sport.
Applications are reviewed twice a year, and the upcoming deadline is March 31, 2025, at 5:00 PM EST.
URQUHART MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship application process is open for the Urquhart Memorial Foundation. For the past 22 years the Urquhart Memorial Foundation (UMF) has given over 1.5 million dollars to eligible students in the city of Philadelphia, who will be attending colleges or universities in the state of Pennsylvania.

With the portal, you are able to view grades, track test scores, see attendance, view immunization records, set communication preferences, and access report cards.

REQUEST FOR EXCUSED ABSENCE FORM
You may use this electronic form to submit an excuse for your child's absence from school within three days of the absence. A doctors note must be provided after three consecutive days of absence. After 9 parental excuses, a doctors note will be required. Be sure to complete each section below to ensure the excuse is accepted. Written notes are also accepted in the main office. All request are subject to administrative approval.
