PRINCIPAL'S LETTER

February 1, 2023



Dear Parents of the Horizon Leadership Academy,


We hope this letter finds you well and that your family has had a wonderful start to the year. We are excited to share some exciting updates and events that have been happening at the academy.


First, we are proud to announce that our students have excelled in the International Copernicus Science Olympiad, bringing home a total of 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and their teachers.


We also wanted to inform you that, we lost one of our private security personnel last week in an unfortunate accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.


In other news, our new building construction is on track and we are eagerly looking forward to the grand opening. We are confident that the new facilities will provide a modern and inspiring learning environment for our students.


With the start of this month, we will also be starting the re-enrollment period for next year. Please be reminded that we have limited spots and we encourage you to enroll your student as soon as possible to secure their place for next year. Detailed information regarding the re-enrollment process will be sent to all parents shortly.


Lastly, we are excited to announce that we have started to offer etiquette classes for the entire school. We believe that these classes will support our students in becoming kind and responsible future leaders and citizens.

COPERNICUS SCIENCE OLYMPIADS

We are thrilled to announce that the Horizon Leadership Academy science team has won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the International Copernicus Science Olympiad Finals held at Rice University. We have proven that we are not just birds, we are science-winning birds! Congratulations to our dedicated team members.

MINDFUL WELLNESS WEEK

This week at Horizon Leadership Academy, we started Mindful Wellness Week with a delicious and nutritious fruit salad competition! Our middle school students showed off their skills in the kitchen and whipped up some fantastic fruit creations. The salads were a hit with everyone, from watermelon and kiwi to strawberry and mango. Congratulations to all of our participants for showcasing their culinary skills and embracing a healthy lifestyle. Also, We HLA students had some more activities like Mindful Coloring Day, Mindful Breath and Yoga Day...

LAYLA-T AL-RAGHAIB

We celebrated our Layla-t Al-Raghaib with our students at HLA. After Mr. Kevin Shehu's speech about the Raghaib, we held a Kahoot contest. Neva Aksoylu won the first Kahoot and Cemal Osman Erdagwon the second Kahoot in our very exciting competition. Congratulations to our students. Happy Layla-t Al-Raghaib and the holy three months.

HLA BASKETBALL

The Horizon Leadership Academy basketball club hosted a thrilling game that had the whole school on the edge of their seats! The 6th-grade team emerged victorious, showing their hard work and determination on the court. Their skills and teamwork were on full display, much to the delight of the students and teachers who were in attendance. It was a truly exciting experience and everyone had a great time cheering on their classmates. The 6th-grade team’s victory is a testament to the school's strong athletic program and the dedication of its students. Congratulations to the team and all the Horizon Leadership Academy basketball club members.

ALUMNI

The Horizon Leadership Academy recently held its first alumni meeting with a group of dedicated alumni who are committed to supporting the school. The meeting was focused on finding ways to provide better services to alumni and create more engaging programs. The team of alumni, along with school representatives, had productive discussions and came up with innovative ideas to enhance the school's offerings. The goal of the meeting was to foster a strong alumni network and provide opportunities for alumni to get involved and stay connected to the school. We are grateful for the passion and enthusiasm that our alumni bring to the table, and we look forward to implementing their suggestions and building a stronger community.

FOR US IT'S WATER FOR THEM IT'S LIFE!

The Horizon Leadership Academy is proud to announce a new fundraising campaign aimed at providing clean drinking water to communities in Africa. With the slogan "FOR US IT'S WATER FOR THEM IT'S LIFE!", the campaign aims to raise awareness about the impact access to clean water can have on communities. The HLA community is eager to make a positive difference in the world and is committed to ensuring that every donation goes directly toward building these much-needed water wells. We encourage everyone to get involved and support this important cause. Let's work together to bring life-giving water to those in need.

HLA VOLLEYBALL

The Horizon Leadership Academy is thrilled to announce an exciting volleyball game taking place on February 1st. The game will feature our current students as they compete in a mini-tournament. This event promises to be a thrilling display of teamwork, and school spirit. Our students have been training hard and are eager to show off their skills on the court. This is a great opportunity for the school community to come together and support our students as they showcase their talent and determination. It's going to be an unforgettable experience!

100 DAYS OF SCHOOL!

The Horizon Leadership Academy is getting ready to celebrate 100 days of school in style! On February 6th, students will be dressed up as if they were 100 years old, marking the occasion with humor and creativity. This fun event is a great way for everyone to come together and celebrate this significant milestone in the school year. The 100 days of school is an important marker of our students' academic journey and a testament to their hard work and dedication. We can't wait to see all the unique and creative costumes on display. Capture the memories of this special day at HLA!

WORLD KINDNESS DAY!

The Horizon Leadership Academy is proud to join the celebration of World Kindness Day on February 14th. This special day is an opportunity for us to spread love, compassion, and positivity in our community. Our school is committed to fostering a culture of kindness and empathy, and we believe that small acts of kindness can have a big impact on others. Students and staff will participate in various activities throughout the day that promotes kindness and spread joy. This is a great opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the power of kindness and the positive impact it can have on the world. RE-ENROLMENT

The Horizon Leadership Academy is excited to announce the re-enrollment period for current students. From February 2nd to February 28th, families are encouraged to complete the re-enrollment process for the upcoming academic year. This is an important step in ensuring that our students can continue their education and receive the support they need to succeed. The re-enrollment process can be completed online.
