The Prowler
Week of January 6-10, 2025
From Mr. Moreno's Desk:
Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Students,
In light of the upcoming two-week Christmas break, we’re excited to send out this edition of The Prowler a bit earlier than usual. We sincerely hope all students, teachers, and staff enjoy their well-deserved time off. Wishing the entire Rio Hondo ISD community a joyful and peaceful holiday season!
Upon returning from the holidays, RHMS students will enter the fifth week of the third six-week grading period. RHMS administration would like to remind parents that we have completed our Fall 2024 benchmarks and have analyzed the data. Based on this analysis, we will identify areas that need improvement and determine which students will benefit from attending tutorials. We kindly ask for your support by committing to ensure that your child(ren) attend the recommended tutorials to help them succeed. Our dedicated teachers will continue to work closely with students in all subjects as we prepare for the upcoming state STAAR assessments, which will be administered starting in April 2025.
Additionally, we ask parents to ensure their child(ren) attend school every day. We remain laser-focused on achieving a minimum of 96% attendance for the year and truly appreciate your continued partnership in helping us reach this important goal.
Keep abreast of all the great things happening at RHMS via our weekly newsletter, THE PROWLER! #WeAreBobcats #OurKidsAreGreat

7th Grade Lady Cats 32-3A District Champions
Our 7th grade Lady Cats basketball team cruised to take the 7th grade 32-3A District Title this past Saturday at Rio Hondo High School at the End of Season District Tournament.
The Lady Cats' first victory was against IDEA Frontier with a score of 67-3. Anahi Medrano was our top scorer with 39 points, followed by Jordan Lopez with a season high of 16 points, Melodee Ortega 4 points, Miah Perez, Jade Mata, Alayna Flores, And Katie Losoya all with two points each. But defense was KEY in this game since the Lady Cats were able to hold the Lady Chargers to only 3 points. A big part of this success were performances by Kaili Collins, Kylie Pitones, Aaliyah Martinez, Genesis Moran, and Natalie De La Cruz.
With that win, our Lady Cats advanced to the Championship game against Santa Rosa. Our Lady Cats took the win with a score of 33-11. Communication and teamwork were definitely the biggest factors resulting in the Lady Cats success this season. Although our 7th grade Lady Cats basketball season has come to an end, the girls' drive and determination to protect and defend that DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP title will be put to the test next season as 8th graders.
Congratulations to our Lady Cats!
