HAWTHORNE PTO - ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING - Monday, October 23 @ 3:20
Parents, Teachers, Friends of Hawthorne - it is time to reform and recreate a PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) at Hawthorne! The PTO will help coordinate schoolwide events, organize fun activities and fund-raise for special things (like new handicapped-accessible playground equipment). Anyone who is interested can come to our meeting. If you are interested and can't come, please let us know and we will reach out and get you involved!
Halloween at Hawthorne - costume guidelines
Halloween is on a Tuesday this year (Tuesday, 10/31). Halloween at school is always fun! But it is also a learning day. Students will be allowed to wear a costume if they are comfortable in it all day (so, they will only wear inflatable costumes during the parade) Also please remember, no weapons, no full face masks and limit face paint to small areas (like cat whiskers).
We will have a costume parade and parents are invited to come and watch it! Our parade will be at 1:45 on 10/31. If the weather is nice, we will have parents create a "tunnel" on the blacktop behind the school for students to parade through. If the weather is bad, we will line up in B-hall.
Halloween Treats and Parties
Halloween Treats and Parties - If you would like to provide treats for your students classroom (store bought - Halloween Candy, Cookie or Cupcake) please sign up by clicking THIS LINK. Teachers will create their own Halloween Party/Activity because they know best what works in their classroom. If you would like to help out with it, please contact your students teacher.
D91 Parent Advisory Committee
We will be creating a SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL at Hawthorne. The purpose of the council is to work collaboratively to provide input and feedback about the school’s academic programs. The council will meet twice as a Hawthorne Council, then our Hawthorne Council will be asked to join the other school council's in a big district-wide meeting this spring. For council we will need 5 parents, 4 teachers, 2 staff members, and 1 patron from our neighborhood. If you are interested or have friends or neighbors who might be interested, please click THIS LINK to let me know.
Superintendent LaOrange provided lots of information about Parent Advisory Councils in last week's D91 NEWS. If you didn't read it, you can read it by clicking this link: D91 NEWS
