The Principal's Corner
Dear School 6 Families,
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support and collaboration—especially in helping ensure that students arrived at school on time each day. Because of your efforts, we were able to complete our NJSLA testing with only a handful of makeups. I’m also incredibly proud of how hard our students worked during the assessments—your encouragement at home truly made a difference!
Our school's Field Day will be held at the High School on May 30th. Kindly ensure that you return the signed permission slip. Children cannot attend without parent consent. If you are able to donate a case of water, please inform your child's classroom teacher.
Families of our preschool, kindergarten, and fifth grade students: please be sure to check in with your child’s teacher for information about this year’s moving up ceremonies.
Please note that there will be no school on Friday, May 23rd; Monday, May 26th; or Tuesday, May 27th. We will return to school on Wednesday, May 28th. With just 20 school days left, we are focused on ending the year on a strong and positive note.
Thank you for all you do!

Mental Health Awareness Month
Health and Wellness Reminders from Nurse Falk
Mental Health Awareness Month
Dear Parents/Guardians,
With longer days, warmer weather, and the school year winding down, this season offers a natural opportunity to focus on renewal, wellness, and mental well-being. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a timely reminder that caring for our mental health is just as important as physical health—especially for growing minds.
💚 Why Mental Health Matters
Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act—and it plays a crucial role in how children handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Helping kids understand their emotions and build coping skills early on supports long-term well-being.
🧠 Tips to Support Your Child’s Mental Health:
Keep a routine – Consistency helps children feel safe and secure.
Open conversations – Check in regularly and encourage your child to talk about their feelings.
Promote healthy habits – Regular sleep, nutritious food, and physical activity are key.
Limit screen time – Encourage offline play and family time.
Model self-care – Let your child see you prioritizing your own mental health.
💬 When to Reach Out
It’s okay to ask for help. Signs your child might need extra support:
Ongoing sadness or irritability
Changes in eating or sleeping habits
Withdrawal from friends or activities
Trouble concentrating or declining school performance
Please reach out to me, a school counselor, or a trusted healthcare provider if you have concerns. We’re here to support you and your child.

Early Pick Up
Many parents are informing teachers of Early Pick Ups or Children Not Attending Aftercare via Class Dojo the day of. Please note that teachers are teaching and may not get to check emails or messages sent via Class Dojo.
Please be aware of the following, noted in the Elementary School Handbook page 7: Parents requesting their child be excused from school before the school day ends must send written verification in advance signifying the reason, time, and who will pick up the student.
