Year 11 Post-16 Progression Fair Success
Last week, we were delighted to host our annual Year 11 Post-16 Progression Fair. The event welcomed representatives from 20 colleges and sixth forms across London, all of whom set up engaging and informative stands.
Our Year 11 students had the opportunity to explore their post-16 options by speaking directly with college representatives and some of their current students. This gave them valuable insights into the courses and opportunities available to them after secondary school. The students were able to ask questions about subjects available, course types, location, and more.
This was an excellent chance for them to reflect and to deeply consider where they would like to attend next year. The fair was an excellent chance for students to ask questions, gather information, and start making informed decisions about their next steps.
We were thrilled to see so many students actively engaging with the presentations!
Thank you to all the colleges, sixth forms, and our own staff who helped make the event such a success!
Year 11 CV and Personal Statement Workshops
At the end of term, all Year 11 students took part in CV and personal statement workshops in collaboration with ELBA and KPMG. These sessions have provided students with a greater understanding of how to write an effective CV, cover letter, and personal statement. The personal statement, in particular, is a crucial component of their upcoming college applications.
The workshops offered valuable insight into showcasing skills, achievements, and experiences in a professional format, helping students feel more confident as they prepare for their next steps. Understanding how to write an effective CV and cover letter is also a key skill that our students will need for their future careers.
Year 10 Football (match report from Natalia Chifor)
The 28th of November was a dark autumn evening, the Lister girls were prepared to give their everything for the match .The whistle blew and the ball roared through the pitch. The match had begun. The lister girls have been training for a while and were ready to make this game another win. Not long after kick-off, Rashad comes through with her excellent finishing skills securing the first goal of the match with an assist from Natalia. Lister girls go back to their formations waiting for the whistle. Soon after another goal was scored with an assist by Natalia and scored by Rashad, our amazing captain. The first half we started with a punch but we didn't stop there, another goal followed by Harleen with the assist of Yasmin. The girls pushed through their tiredness and yet another goal was scored by Jemima with an assist from Holli. The first half only has a few minutes to spare and a corner was received for Lister. Natalia curved the ball in and Rashad finished scoring our last goal for this match. Everyone goes in for a break to get help from our amazing coaches and managers: Miss Rudman and Mr Strange. The second half was tiring but the girls pushed through making it to the end of the match with a 5 nil win.
Smiles grew across their faces as cheering echoed the pitch. Both teams lined up ready to display their sportsmanship by shaking hands where Natalia was announced opposition Player of the match for Lister and number 17 for LTD and Jemima was our player of the match. This was an excellent game played by the Lister girls. Match report by Natalia Chifor
U13s Girls' Football Team
The U13 girls' football teams from Lister took part in a highly competitive and enjoyable tournament at Langdon School on Wednesday, 17th December. Due to the growing enthusiasm for girls’ football at Lister, we were proud to field two teams in the event. Both teams demonstrated outstanding commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day, leaving a positive impression on the sports leaders and staff from other schools.
One of our teams achieved an extraordinary feat, keeping a clean sheet across all 10 games of the tournament. This remarkable defensive effort is a testament to their hard work, discipline, and communication on the pitch.
The teams also delivered some fantastic attacking performances. Goals were scored by Jeldi, Hanifa, Azeeza and Benita.
A special mention goes to Benita, who scored the goal of the tournament. Following a perfectly timed assist by Hanifa, Benita charged towards the goal and unleashed a powerful volley into the top corner. It was a moment of pure brilliance that left everyone watching in awe.
This tournament highlighted the strength of girls' football at Lister and the enthusiasm of our players. Both teams represented the school with pride, showing excellent effort, teamwork, and respect throughout the day. We look forward to building on this success and seeing what these talented players achieve in future competitions!
Well done to all involved!
