We've Reached the 4th Quarter Mid-Term!
As I'm sure everyone is starting to notice, typically with the sunshine, warmer temperatures, and excitement in the air, we can all feel the end of the 2024-2025 school year quickly approaching. As we reach the mid-term point of the 4th quarter this week, you undoubtedly will start to see your students start to get study sheets for finals, be assigned culminating projects, or start to frantically look around their bedrooms for that missing book to turn in by the end of the year! We are excited for the next few weeks and look forward to a strong finish by our students!
This coming week also marks the annual Teacher Appreciation Week! We are incredibly fortunate to have an incredible teaching staff at Helena High. I know many of you see it, but it is amazing the amount of time and effort our staff puts in to provide an absolutely quality educational experience for all students. This commitment shows with our consistent strong scores in the ACT, a desire to open doors for students on a regular basis by offering opportunities to earn their Seal of Biliteracy, to building sheds and projects for local business in our community. I would like to encourage you to please find some time this week to send a quick note to your child's teachers to show your appreciation for all they do for our kids and community!
This week, we will conduct our final check-in with the following departments:
Health and PE (English, Spanish, Swahili)
Social Studies (English, Spanish, Swahili)
Math (English, Spanish, Swahili)
MAP Testing for Freshmen
We will be conducting our spring benchmarking assessment for our freshmen students on Tuesday, May 20. All freshmen will sit for both the MAP Reading and MAP Math tests during periods 1-3 on that day. Students have been assigned a classroom to take this assessment in and will need to report there at the start of 1st period that day. Everyone else will follow their normal schedule that day.
Congratulations to our MUS Scholarship Winners!

Looking to Travel?
HHS is lucky to have one of the most robust Travel Clubs in the region. Thanks to Mr. Hussey and his commitment to helping students see the world, there are countless trips already in the works that students can start planning for. Please see the message below from Mr. Hussey regarding the Spring Break 2026 trip:
We’re thrilled to invite your student to be part of the Helena High School Travel Club—a unique opportunity to explore the world beyond the classroom! In spring break 2026, we're headed to the vibrant and historic country of Portugal. From the colorful streets of Lisbon to the stunning coastline of the Algarve, this immersive experience offers students the chance to broaden their horizons, develop global awareness, and build lifelong memories. Travel abroad not only enhances cultural understanding and communication skills, but also fosters independence, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the world we share. Don’t miss this life-changing adventure—your student’s passport to personal growth and unforgettable experiences starts here! If you have questions about travel club or wish to enroll in our 2026 adventure, please contact Mr. Randy Hussey 406-324-2304 or email rhussey@helenaschools.org 🌟
Reminders from Nurse Rodway
Over-the-counter medications at the high school:
Students are permitted to possess their own over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Midol, Tums, Zyrtec, etc in grades 9-12. These are not supplied by our school staff so please help your high school students be prepared by making sure they have a small bottle in their backpack for their own use as needed. Contact me with questions.
Prescription medications:
Prescription medications are not allowed to be carried and self-administered by students unless you have supplied a Montana Authorization to Possess or Self-Administer Asthma, Severe Allergy, or Anaphylaxis Medication form for those applicable medications (epi-pen, albuterol inhaler) per Helena Public Schools medication policy 3070. See your HHS student handbook, pg 31. Please call Emily Rodway RN @ 324-2216 to discuss prescription medications at school.
Label all medications:
Occasionally a student drops off their medications. Please label all medications that are not labeled such as inhalers or OTC bottles so we can return medications back to students. Students can check with me in the Health Room if they are missing medication.
