DECA goes traveling
We had a successful trip to Bentley University for the Massachusetts DECA Fall State Leadership Conference. 15 of our students attended workshops, listened to guest speakers, practiced role plays, and networked with other chapters! They’ll bring their knowledge back to Apponequet to help enhance our chapter and get ready for the upcoming DECA competitions.
STEM Week
STEM week is a state sponsored event in which schools spend the week focusing on STEM related learning and activities. The elementary schools are working on a week long engineering design project. Students from the honors physics classes will be visiting GRAIS and both AES and FES to help mentor the elementary students as they work together plan, build and test their engineering design solutions.

Celebrating Diwali
Diwali is a holiday celebrated in Indian culture, observed by millions of Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists around the world. This five-day festival, the Festival of Lights, symbolizes the "triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil". Celebrations include decorating with oil lamps (diyas), food, fireworks, and the exchange of sweets and gifts. Diwali begins on October 31st this year and we wish those who celebrate a happy Diwali!
Celebrating Halloween
Halloween is celebrated October 31st. The origins of this holiday are attributed to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of harvest and the onset of winter. Over time, it blended with Christian traditions, becoming the holiday we know today—complete with costumes, trick-or-treating, and festive decorations.
We encourage our Lakers to embrace the fun spirit of Halloween while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. Costumes should follow school guidelines: no masks, no full face paing, no weapons, nor offensive themes. Let’s celebrate creativity, respect, and community AND be spooky!
