Superintendent Message
This month, we focus on maintaining momentum as we prepare for the spring semester. We encourage students to stay engaged, keep up with their studies, and embrace the opportunities for growth that are ahead. February is also a time to reflect on the importance of community, kindness, and inclusion as we celebrate National School Counseling Week and Black History Month. These observances provide us with opportunities to learn, grow, and appreciate the diverse experiences and histories that make our school community strong.
We recognize the challenges that winter can bring, and we want to remind you to stay informed about potential school closures or delays due to weather. We do not have anymore AMI days. DESE limits us 36 hours, therefore if we miss anymore days due to snow they will be a true snow day but we will have to make them up. The first days on the calendar for make up day is May 21, 22, 23. The snow day change is due to Senate Bill 727 that was passed last spring that ties school funding to our school calendar. As always, please make sure your contact information is up to date to receive timely notifications.
Thank you for your continued dedication to your child’s education. We look forward to the rest of the year ahead and all the wonderful achievements that will come.

From the Desk of Mrs. Mauss HS Counselor
As the second semester is now in full swing, this month brings key tasks for career and academic planning! All 8th grade students will work on their ICAP (Individualized Career and Academic Plan) to begin mapping out their desired course schedule for the coming years. This is beneficial as it not only encourages the habit of setting goals, but also helps them to understand that the choices they make now can have impacts on their future! Students in grades 9-12 will continue to update and make changes to their ICAP to continue planning for both new and existing goals, and make schedule requests. I'll continue to be in and out of all classrooms this month working with each grade in setting these goals, preparing for scheduling for the next year, and reminding students of high school graduation requirements. Sophomores and Juniors will attend a GoCAPS presentation on 2/12 where they can learn about internship opportunities available to them during their Junior and Senior year. In the last week of the month, I'll begin heading to the elementary to partner with Ms. Williams in providing lessons to our 5th and 6th grade students. This serves as an opportunity for them to become more familiar with myself in hopes that their transition to this building will be smooth and exciting! At the end of the month, we are hosting a college and career fair, where over 30 different universities, trade/technical schools, businesses, and organizations have been invited to showcase their post-secondary opportunities!
PTSO News
PTSO has kicked off our Valentine’s Day Crush Fundraiser. It is going very well. Our next meeting is Wednesday, February 12, 2025. We will be discussing the school carnival, teacher appreciation week and future fundraisers. Thank you to our awesome teachers, families, and community members for your continued support!
PTSO School Carnival will be April 4, 2025 at the Richland Elementary School!
STUCO
Stuco has been working on creating an exciting environment for their peers! January and February entail lots of events, so our council creates spirit days to help keep morale high. Between homecoming, paint it pink and everything in between, the kiddos have been working hard to increase school spirit. We will have a homecoming dance for high school students only, this is a formal event. It will be 2/7 right after the game until 11pm, we have lots of snacks, and goodies for the students to enjoy. February 21st, our junior high will have a formal heart throb dance. No outside guests will be permitted. The dance will begin at 7pm and end at 9pm.
