The Winn Word
January 5, 2025

Greetings from Mrs. Richards
Happy Sunday! We have a lot of exciting things happening this week!
Wednesday we are taking 3rd-5th grade to the "Hoops for Hunger" game at CMU. We love having the opportunity to share what a collegiate level sport looks like as well as some great role model female athletes! Thank you to Mrs. Dusenbery and Mrs. Sellers for coordinating the food drive and our trip to see the basketball game.
Wednesday also launches my first "Lunch with Laurie" for 2025. This is a drop in time to; say hi, ask questions, or share your ideas! See you on Google Meet!
Coach Walters has 22 students in 3rd-5th grade in her "Winn Run Club." They meet two days a week after school. Thanks to Chrissy Walters for inspiring our young runners. This is a great way to keep your child active as well as giving them some great life lessons on setting goals and having grit!
On Friday, Winn Fit a great program created by our Winn Parent Club begins! Winn Fit goes throughout the Winter season. Parents are required to stay as part of this program. This way you get to meet some new friends and your kids get to experience many different physical activities. It's a great way to blast off your weekend!
School Nurse Update
December Star Students!
Congratulations to our Star Students! This past month we focused on our Second Step skill, “Empathy.” We studied; understanding others emotions, how it might be the same or different from our own, and how to put our empathy into action using compassion. Each teacher nominated 2 students to be a STAR student for December because of their exceptional understanding of empathy! Each child got a special gold coin to use in our book vending machine, a special certificate, and a keepsake photo. Nice work kids!
Learning & Fun at Winn This Week!
Our hill is getting big!
Building a snow hill to sled on!
We love our little shovels! We need some bigger ones too!
Congratulations 2nd Grade Double Dippers!
Do you want to build a snowman?
Happy Birthday!
Parent Teacher Conferences February 6, 2025
It's conference time again! This conference time is "by invitation" from your teacher. This means that your child has been identified as needing extra help academically and/or social emotionally.
Each teacher will be sending letters home with kids who need a conference this round. You may decide that you would like to meet with your child's teacher as well. Be on the look out this week for a letter coming home about Parent Teacher Conferences. If you have questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or the office.
Coach Walters Kicks Off Winn Elementary Running Club
Chrissy Walters is offering a weekly run club at Winn afterschool. She is opening the club for 3rd-5th graders. Mrs. Walters had an opportunity to talk to all of the students and you should have received a flyer where you can sign up. If your child is interested, please have them come try it out. It's a great way for your child to be active after school and make some new friends!
If you want to sign up your child click the Run Club 2025 image to go to the Google Form sign up! Training starts this week!
