This Week at Windsor...
#WEAREWINDSOR
December 2nd, 2022
Windsor Families,
Just a reminder every year, Windsor Staff partners with Windsor Cares PTA committee to collect gift cards for Windsor families in need. This year, we are collecting until December 16th. The giving globe is set up in the office and students can bring in $10 or $20 gift cards to Marianos, Jewel, Aldi, Target, or Walmart to add to the collection box. Students will also add a sticker to the giving globe. We look forward to filling our giving globe and being able to provide families in need with a little extra this holiday season.
To meet the ABC25 membership goal, Windsor still needs several more families to join. If you are able to, please click this link to join: abc25.org/donate
Just a reminder that we go outside for recess if the air temperature is zero or above, please be sure to send your child(ren) to school with the proper cold weather gear. If your child is missing any of their winter items, be sure to come in and check out the lost and found.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Anastacio and Mrs. Soprano

Staff Spotlight:
Michelle Conway
I just celebrated my 20th year here at Windsor School! In the past 20 years, I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and this is my 8th year in 3rd grade. I love being a Wildcat!
When I was a kid, my dream was to be a writer and a teacher. I feel so lucky that I have fulfilled my dreams, and I share this with my students so they can reach their full potential, too. Many years ago, I graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign with a degree in Journalism. I worked at PBS, where I wrote, produced, and edited live shows and documentaries. Then I went on to write and edit children’s stories for a publisher in the Chicagoland area. I realized my dream of being a teacher 23 years ago when I earned my Masters in Teaching from National-Louis University. Teaching young children is by far the most rewarding job!
Currently, I live in Mount Prospect with my 3 daughters. My oldest attends UIUC now, and my younger daughters attend Prospect. In my free time, I love to read and spend time with my daughters. I enjoy attending Prospect football games with them, listening to orchestra concerts, cheering during tennis matches, and watching dance performances. I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Windsor community and family!
Kristen Clark
Hello! My name is Kristen Clark, and I am happy to be
teaching third grade here at Windsor for the 18th year! Prior to coming to Windsor, I worked in another school district where I taught second grade for 3 years.
At Valparaiso University, I studied Elementary Education, Reading, and Learning Disabilities. I have a Masters in Reading from Concordia University and a Masters in Curriculum/Instruction from St. Xavier University. I am also certified as a Reading Specialist.
My husband and I live in Arlington Heights with our two children
(10 and 13) and our dog, Winnie. When I am not at school, I enjoy gardening, reading, and attending my kids’ sporting events and activities!
Amy McEllen
Hello! My name is Amy McEllen and this is my 5th year at Windsor and my 7th year teaching. I taught 2nd grade my first year here at Windsor, and since then I have taught 3rd grade. My first two years of teaching were also 3rd grade.
I graduated from the University of Illinois with a concentration in math. I have a masters degree in reading from Northeastern Illinois and am a certified reading specialist.
Currently, I live in Chicago. I like to go hiking, swimming, running, and spend time with my family and friends in my spare time.
Shannon Sobanski
Hello!
My name is Shannon Sobanski and this is my 18th year teaching. I’ve taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades over the years. I’ve taught at Windsor, Patton, Ivy, and now back to 3rd Grade at Windsor!
I have a Master’s Degree in Education from DePaul University. I speak English and German and lived in Germany for 2 ½ years.
I live in St. Charles with my sons Ben (16) and Ryan (8) and our dog, Sadie. We love to travel and camp in Michigan, and we go there every summer!
Stella's Station
It’s December! As crazy at this month can be for many, if you are looking for some fun STEM activities to do that focus on the winter season, check out Steam Powered Family’s ideas. I love their ideas about Winter Solstice (it’s December 21!) and celebrating the longest night of the year. They also have some fun activities with ice and snow, and even a New Year’s Eve STEM activity! I hope you can find something fun for your family! Have a great weekend!
