The Passing of One of Parkview's Best
It is with great sadness that we let our community know we lost our adored and hard-working Head Custodian, Buddy Phillips. Buddy never met a stranger; he was a friend to students, teachers, administrators and community members alike. Buddy will be sorely missed.

Visiting Parkview
Whether you are here for an appointment or are just checking out your student, every visitor on campus must check in at the main entrance (bus lane) and show their ID. Anyone entering the building must have their ID. No exceptions.
All persons who are not students or faculty members of Parkview High School must receive permission to be on campus or in the school buildings. They must check-in at the main entrance and provide a valid ID, as required by the Gwinnett Board of Education policy. An identification badge will be issued to the visitor and must be worn at all times while on school property. Upon completion of a visit, you must check-out at the main entrance. Alumni are considered visitors. Alumni are asked to visit after the school day is complete and make an appointment with the staff member you are visiting. Students may not bring friends to school for visits to the classroom. Parents must schedule appointments to meet with teachers and check in before the appointment time.
Please note: If you have an appointment time at the beginning of the day or end of the day you will need to account for the time in traffic and to check in.
Getting Your Permit or Driver's License?
If you plan on getting your driver's permit or license there are documents that you need from the school.
Permit - You need a Certificate of Enrollment
Driver's License - Certificate of Enrollment and ADAP Certificate
Certificate of Enrollment - Order on MyPaymentsPlus - $5. Search "Certificate of Enrollment" under Events and Activities.
ADAP - Order on MyPaymentsPlus only if you took Health in person at Parkview - $5. If you took Health over the summer you are responsible for your ADAP and you can find the DDS ADAP page here.
You can pick up any ordered certificates in the Main Office 48 hours after they are purchased.
Parent/Student Communication
PARENTVUE/PARENTSQUARE
We have three different platforms that help you partner with us to support your student.
ParentVue gives you access to your student's grades, attendance, course history, and more. ParentSquare is a communication platform designed to keep parents and guardians informed.
My Payments Plus (MPP) is the resource used for student meal accounts, registering and paying for student activities, making donations to the school, and more.
All of these tools have web and app versions. Due to the transition from Parent Portal to ParentVue, some parents are having difficulties logging in. Please click here for a help guide to log into ParentVue.
STUDENTSQUARE
We also have platforms to keep your students connected and informed as well! Check and make sure they have StudentVue and StudentSquare downloaded on their devices. Some clubs and grade levels (looking at you, seniors!) will be using ParentSquare to communicate, and if students have the app, they can receive notifications more easily. Click here for help guides to set up the StudentSquare app.
Need to Check Out Early?
PLEASE follow these instructions...
- Prior to 7:15 am, the student should provide the Attendance Office with a note from the parent or guardian stating the date, parent contact number, the time requested for the check-out, and the reason. The student's absence due to checking out will only be excused if it meets one of the approved reasons stated in the GCPS Handbook.
- The student is then provided with a check-out pass to be shown to the classroom teacher at the time of the check-out. This pass should be brought to the Attendance Office to complete the checkout process. There is no need for the parent/guardian to come into the building, the student can meet their parent outside or if they are a driver, they can then leave campus.
- If the parent cannot be contacted, the student may not be allowed to check out. A parent or guardian must be contacted to grant permission before a student is allowed to leave campus.
If you do not follow the instructions above, or if your student is sick, a parent/guardian/emergency contact must come in and show their ID to check-out student.
Students who leave campus without following the check-out procedures will be considered AWOL from school and disciplined accordingly.
Note: On certain days when there are unexpected schedule changes or planned schedule changes, lines may be up to an hour long and last checkout times can be moved to 12:30pm.
We would love your support in following the above instructions. We have this process to limit the number of people entering the building during the day and to limit the interruption to classes. When the above process is followed, parents don't have to enter the school or only have to on rare occasions.

These assessments allow students to demonstrate what they know, understand, and are able to do and help teachers determine whether students are performing as expected or need additional support to be successful.
District Assessment Interim Testing Schedule:
- Tuesday, October 8th: World History and U.S. History
- Wednesday, October 9th: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
- Wednesday, October 16th: 9th, 10th, and 11th grade Language Arts

PTSA Reflections Competition
Dear Parkview Families,
Parkview PTSA would like to welcome all of our new and returning families to the 2024-2025 school year. We want every family to have the opportunity to be involved with PTSA and feel connected. The Parkview PTSA provides a unique opportunity that brings everyone together as one community. Research shows students benefit from a strong school environment, with engaged teachers and involved parents.
This leads to higher grades, improved test scores and increased attendance. Current PTSA initiatives include:
- Community Event Parkview Day
- Grants to staff for educational initiatives
- Reflections, a national, PTA full range arts competition
- Staff appreciation luncheon
- Support of Parkview’s Care Team
- Baccalaureate Ceremony for graduating seniors
Your purchase of a Parkview PTSA Membership is what supports these and other Parkview initiatives.
