Principal's Message
Legacy Academy Families,
Tracks A, B, & C had a great first week of school. We are so proud of our OWLS and look forward to an amazing year of academic growth and lasting memories! Please read the message below regarding arrival and dismissal safety.
Data Confirmation is now open in Aeries and ready to be completed for all students who attend Legacy Academy. This is the annual online process that requires parents and guardians to review, update, and confirm essential student and family information. This process helps ensure that the school district and each school site have accurate and current details for each enrolled Chino Valley USD student. During Data Confirmation, families will be able to edit and review information such as Emergency Contacts (please make sure to have multiple emergency contacts), Medical Conditions, Authorizations, and District Policies.
To complete the Data Confirmation process, parents/guardians MUST be logged into their Aeries Parent Portal account. This website has instructions and answers to common questions.

Track A, B, and C: Data Confirmation needs to be completed ASAP
Track D & Jr. High: Data Confirmation must be completed before the first day of school
CVUSD offers a Device Protection Plan to cover accidental damage to student Chromebooks, and is designed to limit a CVUSD family's financial liability for any damages. The deadline to purchase the optional plan is August 31, 2025. Parents can either purchase the Device Protection Plan through my School Bucks (which is recommended) or they can complete the form and return it with $40 cash or check to the school site. If a student does not enroll in the Plan, the cost of repair or replacement is $50 per incident, which includes the stylus pen and charger. The Device Protection flyer and form can be found below.
We are excited to announce the launch of the new CVUSD website. You can find the new Legacy Academy website below. Make sure to check out the new design and resources.

Arrival & Dismissal Safety
It is important that the drop-off and pick-up lines move quickly and safely. Do no park your car along the red curbs and pull forward all the way before stopping, following the directions of staff on duty. If your child is unable to get in and out of the passenger side of the car independently, you must park in a parking space and walk them to the gate. The drop-off lane is specifically for students who can get in and out of the car quickly from the passenger side and keep the line moving. The sections of the parking lot specifically marked for parking should not be used as an additional drop-off or pick-up lane. This is not safe for students and also blocks cars trying to use the parking spaces. Parking spaces are the only place you should park your car. The unpainted curb behind the parking spaces on E. Preserve Loop is an acceptable place to parallel park during arrival and dismissal.
As a reminder, please follow all traffic laws during drop-off and pick-up. All cars should drive on the correct side of the street and refrain from double-parking. In addition, dogs and other animals are not permitted on campus, which includes the parking lot and sidewalks within the campus. Thank you for putting student safety over convenience.
Safety to and from school is very important, so remind your students to walk home directly after dismissal. Our crossing guards are on site 15 minutes before dismissal, and then for 30 minutes after dismissal. If students are not going directly home, they might not have the support of adults in the crosswalks around the campus. Also, make sure to remind your students who walk home to always be aware of their surroundings and not engage with strangers.
Our 2025-2026 calendar is filling up quickly with amazing student activities. Listen to the announcements and check the website often for more information.
Please call the school when your child is absent at (909) 364-2319
Parents/guardians shall call the school office between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm, submit the absence through the Parent Portal, or send an email/hand-written note to the office, upon returning to school (BP/AR 5112.1). You have three days to clear your child’s absence. Please contact the school office in advance of any long-term (3 or more days) unavoidable absence to arrange a schedule of the work to be completed by the student. This must be done at least one week in advance.
How to report an absence:
- Message Heather Trinidad on Parent Square to report a student's absence. https://www.parentsquare.com/schools/31937/feeds
- Email heather_trinidad@chino.k12.ca.us
- Call (909) 364-2319 and speak with Heather Trinidad
Monthly Attendance Winners!
Attend today, achieve tomorrow! Attendance is very important because if you are not here, you are not learning. Our current attendance challenge is from July 7th to July 25th.
- Each student with perfect attendance during that time will be entered into a grade level drawing for an In-N-Out gift card.
- The class with the best attendance during that time frame will win a donut party.
Absences
Absence Verification (AR 5113, EC 46012, 5 CCR 306)
CVUSD requests that parents/guardians clear their student’s absence daily. Parents/guardians have 5 school days to clear absences with the school's attendance clerk. If not cleared within five school days, the absence becomes unverified and cannot be changed.
The SARB Process as Established by LAW
A letter will be sent to the parent at the following intervals for unexcused or truancy absences:
- Third (3) - Unexcused absences: Classified as a Truant (reported to attendance administrator) 1st Letter sent to home.
- Sixth (6) - Unexcused absences: Second Truancy (again reported to attendance administrator) 2nd Letter and School Attendance Review Team (SART) meeting or meeting with administrator.
- Ninth (9) - Unexcused absences: Third Truancy (classified as a habitual truant and subject to summons to appear at a School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
Note: Ten (10) excused absences are considered to be excessive. Education Code Sec. 48260 - Any pupil subject to full-time education or to compulsory education who is absent from school without a valid excuse more than (3) days or tardy or absent for more than any 30-minute period during the school day without a valid excuse or three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof, is a truant and shall be reported to the attendance administrator or superintendent of the school district. A note from the doctor will be requested after 10 absences.
When a parent takes their child out of school early, for reasons not acceptable as excused, for longer than a 30 minute period, more than three times during the year, that child becomes a truant. If your child is absent due to a doctor/dentist appointment, please provide a note from the doctor to excuse the tardy, early release, or absence.
🌟A Foundation for Positive Behavior🌟
At Legacy Academy, we implement PBIS to create a positive and supportive learning environment. PBIS emphasizes teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors rather than just focusing on misbehavior. This approach can be effectively mirrored at home.
How You Can Help:
✅Establish Clear Expectations: Just like at school, set clear rules and expectations for behavior at home. Discuss these with your children and ensure they understand what is expected.
✅Consistent Reinforcement: Praise your children when they follow the rules. Reinforcement can be verbal encouragement or small rewards, reinforcing positive behaviors.
Together, we can create a consistent environment that promotes positive behavior both at school and at home! 🦉💙
