Washington - Caldwell Parent Update
Week of February 12, 2024
Message from our Principal
Hello Bulldog Families,
We recently held a vendor walkthrough as the first step in vendors assessing the scope of work to be performed on our building. While we have a large number of vendors present, we are happy to share that there were several local businesses represented in the walkthrough. The next step in this process will be for the vendors to submit their bids for the work to be performed. All bids are due by Friday, February 16. Once the bids are in, the vendor selection process will begin. We will provide updates as we receive them.
I am happy to share that we recently initiated the first Bulldog Basketball program for our students in grades 2-5. We have 46 students from Washington-Caldwell and other area schools signed up to play. Knowing that Tichigan Youth Basketball was not going to be active this year, we decided to develop this program as a means to support the families and kids who were planning to play for TYB. Bulldog Basketball is a school sponsored program consisting of volunteer coaches, including a few who are parents of our students. We begin our League play on Saturday, February 17, here at Washington Caldwell. Please see our website for the season schedule.
I have reserved office hours each week to meet with parents to discuss school improvement ideas, concerns or to simply meet with you to increase parent engagement throughout the year. Office hours are on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You may also contact me via email at kmccormick@washcald.com, or by phone at 262-662-3466, Ext. 166.
Sincerely,
Kevin
Superintendent/Principal

You can call the front office or send an email to Karen Kaldor at kkaldor@washcald.com or Sue Krystowiak at skrystowiak@washcald.com . You may also email the school at washcald@washcald.com.Thank you!

2024-2025 Washington-Caldwell 5K - 8th Grade Information Night
This event is for NEW families to Washington-Caldwell. Please share this flyer with any neighbors or friends that may be interested in attending WC!
Winter Recess
Now that Winter has finally arrived, please remember that all elementary students go out for lunch recess. Students need to wear coats, boots, snow pants, mittens/gloves, and hats. Students will go outside for recess as long as the "feels like" temperature (temp and wind chill) is above 10 °F.
Middle School students do not go outside in the winter unless it is extremely warm and there is no snow cover.
Lost and Found
Check it out! There are many items in our all new Lost and Found. We will post different photos every week of the items that have been lost and need to be found. Any items that have not been claimed by the end of Parent Teacher Conferences (February 22) will be donated.
No Toys Brought to School
It has been noticed that too many students are bringing toys to school. Toys need to stay at home for many reasons. First, it is a distraction for the student. Additionally, we don't want toys, cards, etc to be lost or stolen. Please refrain from letting toys come to school.
Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is available from February 5 - April 30, 2024.
