EVERYONE LEARNING, EVERYONE LEADING
Dear Longacre Families,
We’re excited to host our Spring Student-Led Conferences, which will take place on Thursday, March 13, and Tuesday, March 18. This special event offers students the chance to take the lead in sharing and celebrating their progress with you, using their personal Leadership Notebooks to showcase their hard work and growth. Your child’s teacher has already sent out specific details, so please refer to that information for more guidance. We know your child is looking forward to sharing his/her educational journey with you!
Also, don't forget to stop by our Spring Scholastic Book Fair, which will be open during conference week in the media center. It's the perfect opportunity to pick up a new book while supporting our school.
During Student-Led Conferences, please utilize both the main parking lot and the Drake Parking lot, just east of Drake Road, which has a sidewalk that leads to Longacre. Please avoid parking on the side streets adjacent to Arundel St. as much as possible to alleviate street congestion for our neighboring community members. Thank you!
As always, feel free to contact me or the main office should you have any questions or need assistance at 248-489-3733.
With Longacre Pride,
Rhonda Henry, Principal
A Message from Mrs. Henry- sent via email on March 4th
Dear Longacre Families,
I’m writing to share some news with you. I have accepted the position of Farmington Public Schools’ Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives, pending Board of Education approval on Tuesday, March 11th. This decision comes with a mixture of emotions, as the Longacre community means so much to me. For the past 17 years, I have had the distinct privilege of serving here, 10 of those years as principal. I am deeply thankful for the experiences I have had working alongside our dedicated staff, extraordinary students, and the incredibly supportive families.
In the new role, I will have the opportunity to make an impact across the entire FPS community collaborating closely with building administrators to develop systems that promote successful outcomes for all students utilizing innovative approaches. This next chapter is bittersweet for me as I will always cherish the memories and connections I have built at Longacre and look forward to staying connected with you in the future.
As I transition into my new role, I have developed a plan to ensure the continuity of our school’s goals and end-of-year activities. To support this process, Mrs. Sue Wank, retired school psychologist, will serve as the interim principal. Mrs. Wank served at Longacre for eight years, retiring in 2023. She is a well-known and trusted member of our school community, working in FPS for 21 years with 28 years total in education. Some of you may remember Mrs. Wank’s infamous “Adventures with Pablo” videos! These were videos that she created with her dog, Pablo during the pandemic.
Mrs. Wank will begin as interim principal on Wednesday, March 12th, while I will complete the transition to my new role on Friday, March 21, just before spring break. Mrs. Wank and I will work closely throughout the month of March to ensure Longacre’s high academic and behavioral expectations are maintained moving forward.
I wholeheartedly thank you for your partnership throughout the years and for entrusting me with your children each day.
With Sincere Gratitude,
Rhonda Henry, Principal
