Dear Families - Read on for the News
Gallery Night
Gallery Night will be held Thursday, May 30 from 5:30 to 6:45 pm in the multipurpose room. It will begin with a short chat from our Executive Director, Sara Beggs. The classrooms will be open for viewing student work from 5:45 to 6:45 pm. Gallery Night is a school-wide event where families, community members, and school partners serve as an authentic audience. The purpose is to learn more about the work of the students, the school as a whole, and honor student learning.
Annual Appeal Continues Through May
We have raised $11,035 through our annual appeal so far! Please help us reach our goal of $15,000 by the end of May. Showing that a large percentage of our families contributes, helps us to receive other grants, so please stand with us by donating whatever is comfortable for you. To donate, click on the QR code or go to palouseprairieschool.org/donate/. Thank you for continuing to prove our EL motto true, "We are CREW, not passengers, strengthened by acts of consequential service to others." Kurt Hahn
Volunteers Needed for Field Days
Your child's Student Led Conference is right around the corner. When students are not in their conference, they'll be participating in a Field Day - a combination of track and field and yard games. PE Teacher Isaac will need some parent volunteers to help monitor the stations and keep the day running smoothly. There will be 6 stations and 1-2 parents are needed for each station. Please sign up at this link if your student is in Grades K-2. Please sign up at this link if your student is in Grades 3-5. Thanks for helping make it a fun day for students!
Last Week for Chinese
The last Chinese class will be Wednesday, May 22. There will be no class next week. This school year, After School Chinese focused on learning Pinyin. Students learned all the Chinese initials and finals and tones. They also learned about some Chinese culture, custom, history, festivals, famous attractions and food. Teacher Lan Li says, "I enjoyed teaching this class very much. Thank you so much for all your trust and support!"
Lunch Balance Emails Disappeared
It's been brought to our attention that PowerSchool, our Student Information System, has stopped sending out lunch balance emails. We're not sure we're going to fix this issue before the end of the school year. We appreciate your tracking your student's lunch and/or breakfast balance through your PowerSchool account or through our online payment system at this link. Please keep your student's balance above a threshold of -10.00 and be sure the balance is zero by the final day of school. Thank you!
Family Engagement Survey
With the end of the year approaching, it is our annual time to assess the levels of engagement with staff, students, and families. Please complete this short survey as it will be used to help make improvements in the future as well as recognize areas where we are doing very well.
Palouse Prairie School Engagement Survey
Thanks again for your support and helping us to accurately measure the engagement of our community and where we can improve. Please complete by May 28th
Have Plants, Need Planters!
We are trying to get donated plants in the ground and can’t do it without help! Please consider joining us this Tuesday 2:30-4 (or whatever subset of that time works for you), or if you would like to plant at a different time, please let Malinda (malkc@alumni.stanford.edu) know and we can leave out plants and instructions. We have some planting supplies, but please bring your favorites if you have them.
No School Memorial Day
Monday, May 27 is Memorial Day and there is no school. Have a great 3-day weekend!
