It took a while, but the cold weather is upon us. Please ensure students are dressed for outdoor recess daily. If your child is in need of outerwear, please contact your child's school counselor for assistance.

⭐CGS EXCEL Excellence Celebration: 11/22/2024

The English Learner Education department will be recognizing English learners (ELs) in the EXCEL Newcomer Program for their hard work, dedication and ongoing achievements in learning and acquiring English in an EXCEL Excellence Celebration on Friday, November 22, 2024. Invitations to families will be shared by the EXCEL teachers.

The Methuen School Committee is actively bargaining with the Methuen Education Association for Unit A (teachers) and Unit C (program assistants). In an effort to be transparent about the process and information being shared, there is a link on the MPS website titled collective bargaining updates. Methuen School Committee values all MPS educators and the need for fair and equitable contracts while working within the constraints of the MPS operating budget.

Please help our CGS students in need of coats for the colder weather by donating to the Peerleader Coat Drive. Thank you for your continued support of our students!

Need to run some holiday errands without the kids? Please consider our PTO sponsored Parents' Night out event. Students will play, shop and have snacks. Please click the link for details.

I am pleased to share that many generous parent volunteers are helping at school! If you are interested in supporting our school by welcoming visitors and completing simple tasks, please reach out to me @keproietti@methuen.k12.ma.us. Please note VOLUNTEER in the subject of your email. We have several spots left and welcome any time you can give to CGS.

The times we need coveage are:

Fridays 9:30 - 11:00

Tuesdays 11:-00 - 12:30

Monday- Thursday 12:30 - 2:00

Our CGS parent amabassadors have been connecting with families by providing welcome emails and access to school information. These thoughtful ambassadors can serve as knowledgeable resources to any CGS caregiver seeking guidance. The ambassadors are willing to support caregivers with questions related to Infinite Campus, Spirit Days, Google Classroom, school lunch and clubs/activities along with other topics. Please see the letter from the Upper School nurse, Jenna Costa. These required medical forms need to be submitted to the Health Office so that students are not excluded from school.

Atending school regularly is vital to academic success, and overall student achievement. Please watch these important videos about the impact of chronic absenteeism.

If a student is experiencing any personal difficulty at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. We understand that you are not always able to share details and that is OK. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, please email the teacher with the subject “Handle with Care.” Nothing else will need to be said or asked, unless you want to share. This will let the teacher know that your child may need extra time,

patience or care during the day.

We are so excited to offer our ONLINE CGS Student Spirit store! Students and STAFF can show their pride for CGS in whatever style they choose! We will continue to have CGS “We are proud WEDNESDAY.” Each Wednesday CGS staff and students are welcomed to show their spirit in blue and white or CGS apparel. Funds raised will help support our positive school culture.
