A Message From Mrs. O'Brien
Dear Lincoln Early Learning Center Families,
I hope this letter finds you well! It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks, and I’m proud of how we have all ROARED together as a community. I’d like to take a moment to reflect on some key highlights and share important upcoming events.
First, I’d like to thank everyone who attended our Curriculum Nights over the past few weeks. These evenings were a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn more about the exciting work happening in our classrooms, and set the stage for a successful year ahead. We appreciate your ongoing partnership in your child’s educational journey.
Looking ahead, we have two important drills scheduled to ensure the safety of our students. We will conduct our first severe weather drill next week, along with a bus evacuation drill for students in each school district in the next two weeks. These drills are essential in helping our children feel confident and prepared in case of emergencies.
We’re also preparing for parent-teacher conferences, which will be held at the end of October for our Mundelein families and before Thanksgiving for our Fremont, Hawthorn, and Tri-District classroom families. These conferences are an invaluable opportunity to discuss your child’s growth and progress, so please keep an eye out for more information regarding scheduling.
As we transition into fall, the weather can be unpredictable, with chilly mornings and warmer afternoons. Please be sure to dress your child in layers to keep them comfortable throughout the day. Layers are a great way to adapt to the changing temperatures and keep everyone healthy as the seasons change.
Additionally, don't forget that our class t-shirt store is still open! These shirts are a fun way to show school spirit and feel connected as a class community. If you haven’t yet had a chance to purchase a shirt, please visit the store soon. The deadline for orders is on October 11th.
Lastly, as we continue our journey through the school year, I want to reiterate how proud I am of our community’s commitment to working and growing together. Our theme, "Proud to ROAR Together," continues to guide us as we foster a supportive, kind, and engaged environment for our children.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we make our school a wonderful place for every student to thrive!
Warm regards,
Katie O’Brien

A Note from the Health Office
Absences
If your child will be absent from school because of illness, doctors’ appointments or vacation, please contact us at Lincoln at 847-949-2720. Please notify the school office by 9:30 a.m. the day of the absence to leave a recorded message regarding your child's absence. Keeping track of all the students on a daily basis is a huge task and we greatly appreciate your prompt attention.
Medical Forms
Annual Physical Examinations are required within the first 30 days of entering preschool. All forms can be emailed, faxed, or brought in with your student. If we do not receive your child’s physical, your child will be excluded from school and cannot return to school until submitted. Per IL State Law we must have a child’s physical by October 15 or within 30 days of starting preschool.
Illness and Injuries
Please remember that any child with a fever should stay home until they have been fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication, for at least 24 hours. Students should also remain home if they are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea. Students may NOT return to school for at least 24 hours after the last episode.
**We are seeing an increase in nurse office visits with sick students. It is imperative that the health office has current telephone numbers for parents and designated emergency contact persons. You are responsible for someone picking your child up within 30 minutes of the call.**
Medications
All medications, feeding, and treatment supplies are to be supplied by the parent per school policy.
Doctor’s orders for medications, feedings, and treatments are required at the beginning of each school year. The school nurse will not accept or administer any medications (including over the counter medications) or perform nursing services or treatments without a doctor’s order. Please do not send medication to school in your child's backpack. All medication must be brought to school by a parent or guardian.
Any questions related to the above health office guidelines should be directed to the health office staff.
