SHS Weekly Update
April 26th, 2025

Principal's Update
This week we will have Social Studies testing on Tuesday and Biology on Wednesday. The following Monday 5/5 will be math testing. The schedule for testing is posted below. As a reminder students who are not testing don't need to be at the school until 10:40 am. If a student can't get a ride, walk, or drive to school, transportation will run as normal. Students who have to take the bus in the morning will have to remain in the cafe study hall until 10:40 am. Students with late arrival will need to be aware of the time they have to be in their first class as the days will not follow the typical bell schedule.
On Tuesday 5/6 we will have an asynchronous day due to AP testing. Due to the AP Human Geography and Chemistry having such large numbers we will need most of the building to proctor the exams.Students on that day will have assignments in their google classrooms but will not physically be in the building.

SPECIAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING TO DISCUSS POTENTIAL FUTURE CONSTRUCTION
There will be a Special Board of Education Meeting on Monday, April 28 at 6:30pm at the Strongsville Administrative Offices (18199 Cook Ave.) with representatives from the Facilities Development Committee (FDC) and the Elementary Facilities Planning Committee (EFPC) to review an earlier recommendation from the EFPC and receive feedback from this representative committee on a potential scope for a May 2026 Bond project. This meeting is open to the public, but only members of the EFPC, FDC and Board will be engaging in this collaborative work.
Anyone attending the meeting that is not a member of the EFPC and FDC can share their thoughts during public comment. Our District will also be scheduling a ‘Town Hall’ meeting for the community to share their feedback and engage with the District prior to the Board considering final options. That meeting date is still being finalized.

SECONDARY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES - SUMMER 2025
Based on our experiences with summer learning over the last few years, we are making some changes this summer. Overall, we are not seeing the impact of summer learning on our students in Grs. K-7 and attendance has been diminishing each year. Therefore, we will not be continuing with a summer learning option for students in those grades. However, we will continue to offer summer learning opportunities for students currently enrolled in Grs. 8-11. Summer learning for these students will be held from June 2 - June 26, 2025. SHS ADVANCED DRAMA & THEATRE CLASS FREE PERFORMANCE - THURSDAY, MAY 1
Mr. Jenkins' Advanced Drama & Theatre students are excited to present their public performance of Big Bad by Alec Strum. This would be a great show to bring young children to because it features fairy tale characters they are all familiar with. Synopsis: The most notorious criminal in the fairy-tale world, Big Bad Wolf, is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by the countless quirky characters he has wronged. Now, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — will clash (on live Court TV, no less, with Sydney Grimm as commentator!) in a trial that will be remembered forever after. As Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf testify, the wolf seems deserving of all that’s coming. But, even though the disreputable Evil Stepmother couldn’t be less interested in pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense, Mr. Wolf makes a good case for himself. Was he born a criminal, or made one? Perhaps he does deserve compassion instead of condemnation? What will the verdict be? Only the jury — your audience — can decide, when the doddering old Judge invites them to determine the outcome of the trial... and the play!
There is only one chance to catch this hilarious one-act play: Thursday May 1 at 7pm in the SHS Auditorium. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. The play should only run 35-40 minutes. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Jenkins (jjenkins@scsmustangs).
