Message from Superintendent Christensen
Dear Orange Unified Community,
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the challenges brought on by the recent strong winds and power outages across our area.
While these events can be highly disruptive, the resilience of our community has been nothing short of remarkable. From our staff members who work tirelessly to ensure student safety and maintain learning environments to our students adapting to changing routines and families who offer support —thank you. I am deeply appreciative of your collaborative spirit and our shared commitment to our school community.
As we continue forward, please know that the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority. Thank you for your partnership in ensuring our campuses remain safe and welcoming places.
Sincerely,
Mike

Measure S: Investing in the Future of OUSD High Schools
In November 2016, voters within Orange Unified School District boundaries approved Measure S, a $288 million bond to modernize and upgrade our four comprehensive high schools. This investment has enabled the creation of new and renovated learning environments to prepare our learners of today to be leaders of tomorrow.
During Phase I, Measure S funding supported the construction of state-of-the-art science centers at Orange, Villa Park, Canyon, and El Modena High Schools. These impressive facilities, totaling over 200,000 square feet, include 71 modern classrooms equipped with advanced technology. These spaces are now being utilized by students and staff, serving as tremendous assets for our schools and community that will endure for generations.
We are now in Phase II of Measure S, which focuses on additional campus improvements tailored to the unique needs of each high school. While work is still underway, renovated facilities are currently open for student use at Canyon and El Modena, in addition to the new construction at Orange and Villa Park. The modern, functional facilities created through Measure S reflect the dedication of our community to providing exceptional learning opportunities for students.
Seeing these facility upgrades come to life has been inspiring and serves as a lasting investment in our students and the Greater Orange community. Thank you to our taxpayers for their continued support of Measure S projects.

We are currently looking for a Parent-Teacher Organization Representative to join our Measure S Citizens' Oversight Committee and help ensure transparency, accountability, and meaningful progress!

We Need Your Feedback: Help Shape the Future of OUSD Transportation!
In June 2022, the Governor and State Legislature approved the largest funding increase for home-to-school transportation in recent history (see California Education Code Section 39800.1). This landmark decision provides the opportunity for Orange Unified School District to receive approximately $3.78 million in grant funding for the 2025–2026 school year. To access these funds, we must update our Transportation Plan and gather valuable input from our community partners—including YOU!
Please take a moment to complete our Transportation Survey by Friday, January 31. Your responses will help us determine priorities and shape the future of student transportation in our district.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for being a valued partner in supporting our students.
