Friday, October 11th, 2024
Good Afternoon
Please review the important information below.
Gonzaga Student Council’s Clothing Order Fundraiser
The Student Council is engaging in their annual fundraiser again this year with their clothing order. The official Gonzaga Merchandise Store is now open at the following link: https://gonzagavikings.itemorder.com/shop/home/. Students and families will be able to go online to choose and pay for their clothes/items from today until Friday, October 18th at 11:59 pm. THERE WILL BE NO ORDERS PROCESSED AFTER THIS DEADLINE. If students/families miss this deadline, they will have to wait until our next online order which will happen in the winter sometime. All graduation hoodies/items will be posted on another order in the winter/spring. All clothing items purchased during this order will be delivered to students here at Gonzaga prior to the Christmas Break. This is a great opportunity to pick up some Gonzaga swag for the whole family and to help support the Gonzaga Student Council initiatives this year. They will make great gifts for the holidays!
School Closure - Thanksgiving Day
Schools will be closed on Monday, October 14th to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Students will return to school on Tuesday, October 15th and it will be Day 1 on the schedule.
Help Shape the Future of Education
Education Accord NL is working toward a 10-year education transformation and wants to hear from you to improve educational experiences and outcomes in our province.
Please take 15 - 20 minutes and share your thoughts by completing the Education Accord NL online survey at educationaccordnl.ca/survey. All responses from the survey are anonymous.
We are looking for feedback from educators, educational support staff, administration, parents, caregivers, community members, and students who are 15 years of age or older.
Visit our website for more information educationaccordnl.ca
Mid-Course Evaluations
We will be having 10% midterm exams from Friday, November 1st - Thursday, November 7th. Classes will continue during this week as exams are only 1 period in length. A copy of the schedule can be found here. Classes will resume on Friday, November 8th.
Coats For Kids Campaign
Rotary Interact and The Gonzaga Mental Health Coalition (GSMHC) are partnering this year for the Annual VOCM Cares - Coats for Kids Campaign. We hope to help ensure that families in need are kept warm this Winter. We will be accepting:
Winter wear of all ages is accepted including adult wear. (coats, boots, hats, mittens, scarves)
We ask that donated items are gently used or new. Please no broken zippers, soiled, or torn items, or out-of-season clothing. This is important for the safety and strength of the program.
Items will be accepted until Friday, October 18, 2024. For further information please contact Tracy Gardiner (tracyanngardiner@nlschools.ca)
Duke of Edinburgh Program
This is a very important message for all students interested in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award levels. Gonzaga is trying to determine the viability of bringing back the program for another year.
Until midnight tonight (October 11, 2024), if you are interested in joining either of the 3 levels please see Mrs. Gardiner in the Guidance office Room 204A. Parents and Caregivers can also email Mrs. Gardiner at tracyanngardiner@nlesd.ca
Please note: This program will only proceed if we have more than 20 members in all 3 levels combined. The registration fee is $225 per participant. We are firm on TODAY, October 11, 2024 11:59pm being the absolute deadline for expression of interest for this program.
PLEASE NOTE: This fee (paid through our Rycor System) is NON-REFUNDABLE as the program's viability will be based on the number of participants registered.
Remembrance Day Ceremony
In preparation for our upcoming Remembrance Day Service, we invite students, staff, and families to submit pictures of relatives who have served in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and all peacekeeping missions and conflicts thereafter. This includes individuals who are serving or have served in the Canadian Armed Forces.
When submitting your pictures, please include the following information:
Name and rank of the person pictured
Name of the Gonzaga relative
Relationship of person in picture with the Gonzaga relative
Please have pictures submitted on or before Friday, November 3rd via email to davidwelshman@nlschools.ca.
