Greetings, Vikings and Viking Families!

Thank you for your generosity and support of CJSF's Soldier Care Package Drive this past week. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

DROP OFF & PICK-UP SAFETY ON VINE STREET

Please remember that when you drop off or pick-up your child on Vine Street to pull over to the curb. Students should not be dropped off or picked up in the middle of the street. Also, cars should not stop in the middle of the crosswalk when waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Please help us keep everyone safe.

TURKEY TROT RACE 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃🏻‍♂️ 🦃

On Tuesday, November 26, Lodi Middle School will hold its annual Turkey Trot Race. The race will begin on campus, run around the school block, and finish back on campus. When the students leave campus, they are supervised by LMS teachers, staff, and adult volunteers. All school rules apply (i.e. no cell phones). Safe and appropriate behavior is expected.

This schoolwide event is a House race as well as an individual race. Prizes will be awarded

to the winning House and to the Top 5 individuals for girls and boys by grade.

If you would like to support our event, please:

1. Make sure your child returns his/her signed permission slip

2. Donate a case of bottled water or a box of granola bars or fruit snacks

3. Help supervise/cheer runners on the course

VETERAN'S DAY

Monday is Veteran's Day, so school will not be in session. Thank you to all Veterans and those who currently serve in the military. We are grateful for all you do.

Lodi Middle's Spelling Bee champions have done it again. Lily Zhu and Elijah Armenta placed second and third at the Lodi Unified School District Spelling Bee and will now move on to represent Lodi Unified at the San Joaquin County Spelling Bee next month. Congratulations Lily and Elijah! We are proud of you.

Below are safety tips for your children to follow:

• If someone you don't know offers you a ride, say NO.

• If someone follows you on foot, get away from them as quickly as possible, and tell a trusted adult.

• If someone tries to take you somewhere, get away from them as quickly as possible, and yell "this person is trying to take me away!"

• Never leave school with someone you don't know. Always check first with your parents or a trusted adult.

• If you want to change your plans after school, always check first with your parents or a trusted adult.

• If you go home alone after school, check to see that the windows and entrances appear OK before entering. Once inside, call your parents to inform them that you made it home.

• Always trust your instincts. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, get away as quickly as possible, and tell your parents or a trusted adult.
